Indeed, most other teams that play a similar formation -Swansea, Spurs- set up with pace coming off the wider areas. Spurs aren't just keen to have Rose and Naughton to bomb on - they have Bale, Lennon et al. The contrast couldn't be more striking. No coincidence really that we were heavily linked with Sinclair who plays as an inside forward/striker/winger.

Jrod offers us pace and directness that few others do -and for that reason he'll stay in the team. That's not necessarily a compliment to his current form -and it would be nice if he had more competition (Sinclair would have offered it). Agree the right hand side was our weak link first half - JWP was helped second half by the fact that Sunderland had dropped deep to the edge of their own area giving him and Wanyama plenty of time and space to carry the ball forward.
