Good point but Redmond was dire, Austin was poor, Ely was ineffective and Ings had no decent service. MOTM was Hojberg...as good as any performance put in by Schniederlin or Wanyama. Lemina getting back to his better self. The back line worked, but against better opposition make no mistake there would be no clean sheet.

It seems not so long back that we went into most home games inc Chelsea with the thought of a win a reality. That’s no longer with us and it’s hard to see where a goal is coming from. This one is more than likely a 0-3 loss...how depressing.
-
Oh cwap, Walcott on...you know that means we throw it away.
-
Sounds like Targett is having a fantastic game. Pity Bertrand will continue to keep him out of Prem games.
-
Yes...Ings you beauty!

Absolutely incredibly poor defending, but there were some telling Ref decisions in the lead up to the goal where he should have stopped. We are too slow in everything we do - that might be fitness, but its mostly poor investment in recruitment over three years. I think there is a good chance we will go down.

Commentators are so biased to Wolves it's embarrassing. To be fair we are playing so poorly and thats mostly because in central midfield we are allowing far too much space.
-
Rubbish so far

Another loss on the cards...Wolves are a well drilled side and we can’t buy a goal. 2-0 if we’re lucky.

Predicted 3-0, so not surprised in the slightest. Our squad is for the most part below Pools in terms of most attributes. We will be in danger of another relegation scrap unless Hughes finds a way of galvanising this team.

Michael Obafemi - Official: Signs for Swansea

This lad could be the answer to our goal drought but what chance do these youngsters have getting into the first team - Gallagher can’t get a game even as a sub. -
What’s with the sudden love for Bolton. Don’t get it. They fooked up...what’s it got to do with Saints?
-
Well the point over not being applicable to Kinglsand centre is rubbish...I sit in this area and was offered via email.

Who plays alongside Ings vs Brighton?
Saint Fan CaM replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
I like this but there’s not enough mobility in central midfield. Would play Hojberg instead of Armstrong to start. Then bring on either Armstrong or Romeu for Lemina or Hojberg depending on how the game is running. Agree with the two up top...Austin does not deserve a start, however I expect him to as they’ll not want to dent his confidence after a couple of poor games. -
Can’t blame them for wanting to fill the ground, but to offer ST holders in this way smacks of little thought. The whole idea should be to attract sustainable repeat sales, but if your friends can only sit on their own in another part of the stadium rather than next to you, it will detract from the experience considerably. If the club made seat re-assignment easier...

Cardiff, Huddersfield and...Wetsham or Brighton.

How many times have we seen us having the better possession, the better chances, the more corners etc. etc., only to be robbed at the death? Plus, after Woy has a word in the Ref's ear at half-time, you'll see Benteke and Ayew go down in the box under powderpuff challenges to get a pen - they've been playing for it all half the cheating miserable scrotes.
-
No intention to mislead, just that perhaps some people see the game differently to others. Yes, we have a good share of the ball, but increasingly in my view, we see what little cutting edge we have become blunted as the opposition work out our game plan. We need to be much more pace in our attack - change it around a bit. Good chance there from Hoj to get the corner BTW.
-
We are getting sh*tter and sh*tter. So little movement off the ball when in advanced positions - particularly Bertrand and Redmond, which is a shame because they seem to have a better understanding that Ely and Cedric. Referee is not having a great game either - I predict he will be instrumental in Palace winning.
-
Can’t see anything but a 2-0 defeat with this one. Woy has his team working well for him and a home defeat looks unlikely to a side who struggle to score. Hope I’m very wrong.
-
While every single forward in the squad seem so to find it so difficult to stretch the onion net, I find it hard to single out Gabbi for criticism especially when he’s scored more than Long in recent seasons (IIRC). I do wonder whether it is more a case of coaching in a prescribed fashion that is just not working well at senior level for some reason.

According to Sky Sports live text we’ve had one shot on goal after 22 mins....stunning.

Sorry, was not commenting on your post...something is not right with the site...you can see that I replied to another post, not yours??? Weird.

Even Hughes felt the first yellow was harsh. I trust his judgement and indeed my own, over yours. Sonny.

The reason we lost that game was because collectively the team sat back and played far too deep, not pressing when they had the ball. This was true of several passages of play during the game but obviously certainly for McGuires winner where nobody went out to challenge him (probably should have been Vestergard). Nobody putting their b*ll*x on the line for the team or club. The reason we didn’t win the game is more complex. For whatever reason Ings was less mobile. Long starting may have worked, but once again it didn’t....he has lost his way completely. Austin adds nothing now unless he is served a scoring chance on a plate...but we don’t create those type of chances because we’re so pedestrian in attack. Redmond has no end product still and Ely shows no signs of being any better. Our central midfielders are generally too scared to move forward into attack, because doing so will almost certainly cause an issue if the opposition break. A quick word on Hoj. I really like this guy...he has balls in the tackle, works tirelessly across a huge area of the pitch, puts his heart and soul into a game AND tries to affect the game positively. His first yellow was as soft as you’ll ever see...very early in the game...so even if he did dive, it should never have resulted in a sending off. Placing himself in the box to invite a challenge was the right thing to do and in the split second that he was confronted by two defenders he chose the wrong time to go down. That’s not something to be crucified over when most of the game you’ve played like Trojan. I don’t understand why Yoshi is not being selected...he would be my choice next to Vestergard. I would not play Romeu with Lemina again...it doesn’t work.
