  1. Where’s Vierra in the betting odds now? With the past connections to Eckert etc., I would have thought that would be one of the favourite options. SR not up to that level I suppose.
  2. You do know when employer pensions were made mandatory right? Phased in from October 2012 to 2018. So it is an unfortunate fact that there are people who only have a state pension (or have a private pension that is so small it’s not enough alone to live on). That’s not the point - the triple lock was designed to ensure the state pension kept up with the basic cost of living and there’s no good humane reason for removing it before first removing other waste from public spending.
  3. What kind of privileged blinkered world do you live in? Just because some had enough disposable salary to invest in a private pension, doesn’t mean everyone did. Are you so fucking heartless that you’d be happy seeing people, who had paid into the system all their working lives, live in poverty at the expense of dogmatic bat shit crazy left-wing policies? That’s really wonderful that your privileged parents and in-laws are able to give away their state pension which I suspect they considered a ‘pittance’ - I’m sure that makes you feel warm inside. For many that’s ALL they get to live on. Yes, there’s greed in society - let’s start means testing private bankers, utility company bosses, private landlords…the list goes on and on. To blanket crucify pensioners by eroding all pensions with the removal of triple lock is morally repugnant.
  4. You’re talking as though a pension is a benefit - it’s not…it’s a right for those who have paid NI all their lives. Those who rely on their state pension to live are not likely to be worrying about others as such…they just need to eat and keep themselves warm - basic needs which the corrupt political elite seem to think is a luxury. Unless you’re an illegal migrant - then you get 3 square meals and a nice heated 4 star hotel room, a mobile phone, cinema tickets...etc. The waste and dogmatic skewed priorities need to be eradicated before putting even more pensioners into poverty.
  5. In the light of state pensions not providing the equivalent of even the national minimum living wage, how would suggest pension levels are maintained?
  6. There are billions of £’s being spent or indeed wasted that are not for the benefit of UK citizens and yet here we are…
  7. Of all the policies that Reform could introduce to lose a large % of the electorate that might vote for them, removing the Triple Lock would be a massive own goal.
  8. Spors down in the dugout as the team comes off???
  9. Well done to our new Manager - you can only beat what’s put in front of you.
  10. Robinson is not that great, but I’m wondering whether he’s just trying to be a Dibling when he doesn’t need to be.
  11. Williams is looking pretty useful.
  12. My God - why the fuck did Baz dive there?!?!
  13. Good old Baz - really running out of ideas how to fuck us over.
  14. Crowd singing for Oriol already!
  15. Looked like a pen there - dangerous play
  16. Where has this team been? 😳
  17. Downes off - Barnaby on??? SR need to get a January sale.
  18. Late to the party / away and couldn’t get a stream working. Have I missed much? 🤣
  19. I think proportional taxation is fair. Of course I believe in the triple lock while state pensions fall well below the minimum living wage. Taxing any one individual 40% + of their salary is wrong and unjust. The top 1% wealthiest in the UK hold their wealth not necessarily in money/cash but in investments, so a tax on removal any of this wealth from the UK is fair. As I’ve already replied, there are decreasing options for voters now…there is no one party that I can honestly say I agree with. This country was abandoned by the political elite decades ago.
  20. Some years ago, when I was about to contribute to put my kids through Uni, I voted Lib Dem - their policies spoke positively to me and I particularly liked what they had to say on education fees. They lied and being a man of principle, I swore I would never vote for them again. Role on to the present and I’m a pensioner who voted Labour in the last election because historically they looked after the vulnerable in society. Since they were elected they’ve attempted to make lives harder for the elderly and infirm and there’s seemingly no stopping them now. Pensioners are fair game because they’re scared to go after the wealthiest in society. But the biggest issue I have with Starmer and his government is that they throw good money after bad by not cutting out waste and championing overseas projects before sorting out the UK and its citizens. I’ll never vote Labour again. Interestingly, even though I wanted to see the back of the last Conservative government, during their tenure my standard of living did rise a little. And I’m what I consider upper working class.
  21. LOL - bit like the managers thread - I keep reading debate as debacle! 😂
  22. Sounds like GON had put together a decent spreadsheet - that’s Wankerson sold then.
  23. They may be bottom but Wednesday are a good team - i.e. they’re utilising their small squad to very good effect and are picking up points. This is not going to be some easy pushover like some seem to be thinking especially with us not having a decent target man - they will press us hard and capatilise on mistakes at the back (inevitable). A win is possible but I’m going 1-1.
