Welcome officially Tonda. I kind of called this a while ago - as soon as we won four on the trot, with the latter two being very good performances, it was clear that all the risk lie in not appointing him full-time. The contract length is almost certainly a financially led decision, but perhaps a little surprising. Today will be very revealing, not just regarding Eckhert, but also whether the team disruptors start to kick in again.

Stephens has his limitations too, agreed. But I’ve watched Manning countless times either jogging back after being caught upfield on a break and/or not close down his man and put a tackle in and/or turn his back on a shot. The fucker even ducked under a shot against Millwall for one of their goals! Then there’s the passing backwards to recycle the ball when he’s under the slightest bit of pressure. Yes he has scored and I’ve tried to appreciate his contribution, but his primary job is being a defender and in that role he is a massive liability.

I’d be inclined to keep the fucker as far away from our club as humanly possible. Other than that, yeah. 😏🙄

Err, how many minutes has he played since Eckhert took over? Not sure how you can judge him whilst not playing when others in the team who were roundly criticised, have seemingly improved with the interim manager. I’ve thought he’s a better option than Manning particularly in defence, but perhaps give him a chance to shine under Eckhert before writing him off?

Come on - four wins on the bounce when previously the team looked defeated almost before kick-off was a great achievement in the time he had initially and showed he had the tactical nouse to find a way to win with the squad he inherited - e.g. the use of AA as pivot in midfield and letting Scienza/Azaz and Fellows off their leashes. The reason that didn’t work against Millwall was because Robinson is not Scienza by some distance, Millwall had a decent gameplan to stifle our midfield and somehow managed to find some bargain basement players who fancied themselves as Messi on the day. Fair play to Millwall - they did a good job on us. Let’s hope Tonda has learned that he cannot rely on crap defenders like Stephens and Manning instinctively knowing how to get stuck in, putting in a tackle and defending more pragmatically by clearing the ball when faced with marauding forwards trying to close them down.
