  1. OK, so in that case we must be at a point where MJ's bunch have been given the green light to proceed to final DD with a bid that has been accepted in principle by Fry et al. That also means that if they're really serious they will win through and take-over will happen very shortly. But then will have nothing to spend on re-building the squad to something worthy of a play-off challenge. Not really sure whether I want to believe any of this, but frankly I am starting to think Salz's people may have a better mid-term view.
  2. I would tend to agree with this estimate, however it could be factored up or down depending on (a) who the manager is and (b) whether some decent players are signed. There will be a honeymoon period for an incoming new owner I suspect, so it will be critical to win over the fans and get results before Xmas otherwise I think early optimism will be replaced by a renewed exodus from SMS. All of this of course assumes there will be a club come Xmas and I am still of the opinion that is far from certain at this stage.
  3. Exactly! I rest my case...
  4. DMG has not really shown the promise we needed. Whether this is down to bad luck given the rubbish management he has had to endure is questionable, but frankly there are umpteen 21 year-old strikers out there waiting for a chance to shine at a decent club. BWP might be a better option if played centrally frankly - has more pace and will probably shine IF played in his proper position.
  5. Why was there no "I have no fecking clue" option? That surely must apply to nearly everyone who has posted a reply to this somewhat pointless poll - myself included.
  6. No **** Sherlock. But undeniable - I guess you're bored right?
  7. The guy has sunken in my estimation of him frankly. There is no excuse whatsoever for getting behind the wheel of a car after drinking in excess of legal limits. You might as well have a loaded gun in your hands. Claus enjoyed all the trappings of success at Saints and many youngsters look up to their football heroes. He has acted in a manner that does nothing to enhance his profession or his continued status at the club. Its yet another episode in the sad times the club is experiencing and I wonder whether Claus enjoyed Burleys company at a bar or two? Can't understand anyone who attempts to condone or support this guys actions and I hope he gets put away and never returns to SFC frankly.
  8. I seriously would hope that Wotte will not be offered the job on the basis that if we get a new owner they will have higher ambitions and will want a manager that has considerable experience in the English leagues. However, if beggars are to be choosers and there's no money to find a better individual, then I think we could do worse than keep some consistency and hope Wotte understands what is needed to re-build a good team capable of stringing quite a few wins together.
  9. Excellent news - I think I read his family love it here and he is very settled. I think he is a very genuine bloke who has a taken the club to his heart and is not a person to shrink from his duty as Captain to help repair the sinking ship. Just hope there's a club left for him to ply his trade with...
  10. Never was going to happen though was it? LOL. I suggest you give it up - your hero has gone - he's done his best, which was ultimately rubbish and enough to kill the club potentially. You need to move on or see an analyst.
  11. The point is 19C we are way beyond the point where your opinions on LC's past performance matter. Can you not see that, or are you really just on a wind-up? You say you have no connection with the club - well that's an interesting statement - I had you down at least as a supporter - do you not attend games and provide funds via the gates then? If you want to remove spite and pettiness from the club, then understand the gravity of the situation we're in and the hurt that most supporters are feeling right now. If you don't want to provide a message of thanks to LC, then fine, but don't criticise or judge others by trying to argue that conditions to Leons gesture are necessary. You just serve to distance yourself and your wishes for 'peace' from most posters.
  12. Well said.
  13. I think you need to take a reality pill...seriously. I don't know what involvement you have in connection to the club, but I cannot believe you have any grasp or indeed care for how close we are to losing the club. Are you prepared to throw your personal money into the potential lost cause that is SFC? If not, then reel it in, cool down and take the long view. I wonder if you would have given Mr Corbett the same grief all those years back when he saved the club from meltdown? Answer honestly.
  14. And yet there are some on here saying they would accept Lowe back if he could save SFC. Look for the last time, the club is about to cease to exist...gone...capput....no team....no Saturdays....no ritual beer in pub....etc....etc. We're past recriminations. Why the inquest into the motives behind Leon keeping the club afloat? I know the guy and I am confident that the primary driver behind his gesture is just to keep SFC alive because he loves the club, his football experience at SMS, the staff at SMS. I also would hazard a guess that there are no guarantees to him in terms of any connection to a future board or any other reason - who would be able to give assurances?! Not Fry.
  15. I cannot believe the hyprocrisy and deluded idiocy of your post. Sorry to rant but have you not realised the club as we know it is about to cease to exist. IT IS HANGING ON BY THE SKIN OF ITS TEETH! Just because Leon happens to have enough money to keep the club afloat in its hour of need does not entitle ANYONE to expect him to have the funds to buy the club outright! Its outrageous to expect anything of the man, but given that he is the only ex-major shareholder doing something positive, I suggest that you take your foot out of your mouth and start hoping that his generosity will actually help save the club. I add my personal thanks to Leon for all he is doing AND all his support to the club over the years. He has more of a claim to SFC than any other shareholder I know of - he does more than talk the talk...the man walks the walk too.
  16. Just still cannot understand how Brighton can manage this and yet Saints are on the verge of meltdown with 120 odd years of heritage and history about to be thrown away. I was born in Brighton and do follow their progress, so I guess at least I'll have a proper reason to support them if Saints go bust. That in no way compensates for the way I feel about the depth of incompetent management at Saints though.
  17. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/football_league/article6315929.ece Could they be the new force or at least 2nd best team on the South coast? How is it that SFC is not more attractive to a buyer than Brighton? Where are all our rich supporters in our time of need? I am SO depressed this evening reading on the one hand SFC's close demise and on the other hand another smaller club's ability to raise huge funds - much more than we need to stay afloat. I cannot help but think there is something we're still not being told about the financial issues at SMS - something that stinks to high-heaven.
  18. Utterly fanciful thinking. We are nearer to closing the club down than deciding a manager unfortunately.
  19. I can only imagine that the lack of information on the OS reflects the dire level of dis-repair the club is in right now. A hollow shell.
  20. Well I've been watching and waiting all day - trying to get some work done at the same time. I feel its all over - Fry has failed for the club it would seem and this Friday will go down as Saints Black Friday 15th May 2009. RIP Saints FC. :smt087 :smt009 :smt090 :smt089 :smt078
  21. Fry doesn't strike me as a man that would sh*t himself frankly. He has the joker in his hands - MJ's group.
  22. The trouble is you use terms such as 'fluid' and after everyone picks themselves up off the floor or wipes the coffee from their monitor, they question your judgement and therefore your actual knowledge. If you do know about sf and tsf as you claim, you would understand this, so some are left wondering whether you're on a wind-up. How close are you to the action? Can you say how close we are to a deal? With what certainty will there be news tomorrow? What exactly is holding up the process? These are all questions that need answering - I know its not your responsibility, but understand that everyone needs to know these things to rest easy.
  23. Hi Ron - I share your gloomy outlook unfortunately. I find it hard to believe any serious party would leave it this late in the day to make a move. When it goes this late in my experience its pretty much game over barring a miracle. I wonder whether there is enough time left to seriously expect Fry to tie up a deal before there's no cash-flow whatsoever.
  24. Its all about balance and Lowe got that wrong - completely. He needed to recognise that primarily fans don't look at the stadium - they look at a patch of grass and the quality of the players running on it over 90mins. No good having a s****y 40,000 seater stadium if nobody wants to go there. He lost his customers because he allowed the product to deteriorate significantly. He didn't get it so failed to invest in the right areas = he did nothing right (in my book).
