How strange - I happen to agree with much of NC's post here. I need to go lie down in a darkened room I think.
-
Gotta cut the cloth. Jimbo could do us proud in L1 - lots of experience and did a good job at Ipswich and he's ex-Saint.
-
Sorry, can't reveal the sauce. Watch this space. Mark my words. Its coming. I think.

Jim Magilton will be our next manager. You heard it here first. I thank you.

Am I the only one who feels a bit sick reading all this rubbish? Press conferences - chancers - dinners for two - ITK whispers. I mean under normal circumstances it might be a bit of a laugh, but we're talking about the potential demise of the football club and some seem to think its a joke. I wish I was numb to it, but its more than just irritating me now.

MLT on SSN confirmation of Consortium involvment

Only if today is yesterday. -
After all that's gone before, I cannot believe anyone would believe an unsubstantiated rumour on here, let alone re-arrange a whole day to listen to a press conference that would be repeated over and over, if it had any semblence of decent news in it.

LOL - my thoughts entirely LTC. Oh yeah....bump!

Err...thanks for that...not.

Personally, I am "flushed" with excitement. I hope that gag has not been posted already, I cannot be bothered to "brush up" on previous posts. But I know this is a "drain" on your good humour...so coat got. Gone. -
That cannot be correct (i.e. administration) as the club has no assets so would be closed down immediately. Fry would have a lot of explaining to do if he allowed this to happen when there is a definite bid on the table and reportedly two more about to be lined up (if not already issued). I do not believe the creditors would want this to happen either. Hopefully. 8-[

Understand the points you're making CB, but the assertion was that it was normal to plummet when dropping into the CCC from the Prem. I don't see Birmingham or Reading struggling in the same manner as we have and at least Brum get back to earn a few bob in the Prem and keep the club alive. Lowe failed to manage the situation and while others have seen tough times also, it is far from normal I would argue.
-
I find it incredible that you can manage to intersperse obvious and proven truths, with complete fabrication. To discuss each highlighted point... 1. Lowe did not spend money that we could not afford - £90k on Fuller was a pittance in relation to what was actually needed to make a difference. To spend more may have been an unacceptable risk to Lowe, but it was certainly no fortune. 2. "As normal"? Tell that to Birmingham or Reading. Sorry - Lowe managed to completely mis-manage the club and that is not 'normal' among clubs newly relegated from the Prem. 3. "We never recovered"? What about Burleys first push for promotion - we got into the play-off semi's - remember? 4. Crouch did not fuel Wilde's fire - quite the opposite in fact. He had to oust Wilde's Board appointments single-handedly to ensure the madness stopped. And that's among many other positive acts such as the appointment of the best manager since Strachan in Pearson, which Lowe then undid because of his dogma. 5. As above, there is every chance that had Lowe not sacked Pearson because of pure spite and dogma, we would not have been relegated this year. Equally valid argument to yours. 6. Rather than make a bland statement that Crouch is king of stupidity, why not list out for us all the exact aspects of his short Chairmanship that you think provide factual proof of this? Include dates. If you can do that I may be convinced, otherwise you only have an opinion and a ill-conceived one at that.

Would prefer John to be honest - more like the type of player needed in L1 IMO. However, cannot see there being a hope in hell of affording the wages and they both would not come down with us to L1. Forget it. We'll be playing unknowns largely next year and in some respects that might be a better bet.

Believe it when I see it - too many false Dawns...personally I was hoping for a frisky Freda on Friday, but she turned out to be the fat lady that sang. OK - too silly.

So still no deal done then...must be waiting for Friday I guess. -
Thank goodness you're not manager, because with that summary I am sure you've never seen the lad play. He puts in equally good crosses to James, although he never gets a whole match - usually sub appearances when we're 3-0 down and chasing a game. I have studied his technique and IMO he has got the mark of a very good player, with perhaps a little more work at tracking back and putting a boot in.

Agree it would, but it ain't gonna happen in a million years. Pie in the sky, pigs will fly stuff. -
Are we so used to a manager change...
Saint Fan CaM replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Wake up pal...this is the football world we live in now, created by the professional footballers themselves due to stupidly high wages in the top two leagues and of course Sky money. The lower leagues are so poor generally that they can only afford 'thugs' (as you put it). If we play kids to try a tip-tappy game in L1 we will be found out very quickly just like we did in the CCC. In fact, probably quicker. It is essential that we match the squad for L1 life to attempt to get out of it or we will continue to plummet - mark my words. -

Well I think it's certainly true that we need to rid of Wotte. Playing tap-tap pretty footie in L1 will lead us into oblivion. We need to get a gaffer that sets his team up to play 4-4-2 for most games - let's them get used to the system and tactics - uses the wings to play wide and get lots of deep crosses into the box - employs 1 or 2 big experienced target men who can bully defenders without giving away stupid fouls. Easy - but Wotte will not be that man. -
Well thats an easy decision made then eh? He can f*ck right off if that's true - we need some men in the team for L1 ready for a fight. Give the RM job to James and recruit a decent RB.
-
I think there are two essentials to recognise before talking about particular players. 1. There are a good number of players in this seasons team that have been playing in the wrong position and/or been made to play stupid tactics (e.g. Smith). A new manager who understands how to play a winger as a winger to get balls to the byline for decent crosses for instance will make a huge difference IMO. 2. A new regime that includes a new manager will NEED to clear out and start afresh to ensure tactics more suited to L1 are learnt quickly. This is the biggest issue facing the managerial, coaching and playing staff as we need a strong and successful start to the campaign. If we're struggling in the lower reaches after 6-7 games I will be extremely concerned - it could mean re-evaluation of the manager etc etc and you know where that leads. We cannot afford to make the same mistakes in L1 as Lowe did in the Prem and CCC.
-
IMO Woggy leaving the club was symbolic of Lowe's ability to see the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Woggy was part of the spirit in the club and when you start to disassemble that, the rest will evaporate. I really believe that Woggy would have brought something to the changing room mentality - he was probably one of the first people the players would see turning up for a home game and he almost certainly was close to the players. I also truly believe that players would be more inclined to put more effort in on the pitch knowing they're effectively playing to put food on their friends dinner plate (etc.). It's simple - bring Woggy back!
-
Verbal - that's a great summary - agree with all you've said there.
