My point was that I’d rather see 1or 2 of our U-21’s given an opportunity to gain some invaluable experience by testing themselves against the best, rather than some loanee that has little to no investment in a club that’s on the down.

I can’t see any player in a Prem squad that’s any better than our U-21’s wanting to come here in this window. It would be a strange decision for an overseas player to come here, but more likely especially if they think they might be seen on the EPL stage and they get a great offer. We’ll be suffering this squad albeit a little smaller until the end of the season and our relegation.

It’s a shame. Of all the signings from that window, his excited me the most as I remember him as a very skilled attack minded, pacey winger. At Saints at least he’s been a shadow of his former self - bit of a shock if I’m honest.

Not sure I agree with this - although I like Downes because he’s one of the better players, my take on it is that it is very EASY to look good in this squad given that it’s in general not good enough for the Prem. Have you noticed how Downes gets booked a lot? That’s because he’s too slow and either misses the tackle or more often than not he has to foul a player that’s going past him. It happens time and time again. Fraser also fits into the not quite good enough for the Prem bracket - Howe knew he was not good enough for a side that had aspirations nearer the top of the table. Both of these players could do a job for us in the Championship, with Fraser being the experience we were seeking last season, although it would appear he’s fallen out of favour somewhat now and it’s likely he’ll be gone in the summer.

I think there’s a decent player in there, but a lot is based on potential. He needs more game time granted and also some strict coaching to learn when to release the ball when bearing down on goal. He’s far too selfish at the moment in my opinion, but that characteristic can change especially if he gets a stronger bond with his teammates.

If Utd can beat us 3-1, Forest on their current form can beat us 6-0. I have zero confidence of another point this season despite some ‘plucky’ performances.
