  1. Seriously, when did they make it 3 points a game??? Feck me, I should pay more attention to football...
  2. There are currently six? teams who could qualify for the CL, I don't suppose many Aston Villa fans expected to be in the Champions League five years ago or Tottenham fans before this season... People forget, football is relative. Getting out of the Championship is no harder than getting out of League Two. We have a better chance than anyone of course, as we are the richest team oustide of the Premiership by a country mile!
  3. No league is tougher than any other. Only the people in them believe this to be the case.
  4. Name the players in the league you would prefer to see there, given that with 11 goals Lallana is about the top scoring midfielder in the league...
  5. No, the reason we are 20 points off the top teams is we went 9/10/11 games only winning ONE of them. We all know why. And yet here we are, with now PROMOTION form, questioning what's wrong... The answer now is nothing NOW!! We let the top teams gain a massive headstart on us. Those top teams do no better at most of these grounds than we do. The point is they won more while we were winning nothing in the first two months of the season. Yes we could win more games. Only Norwich have won considerably more games than us. Leeds have won 19 games - that's 5 more than us, that's all. That's the difference between success and failure, wafer thin margins which do not allow you to give any team a ten game headstart. This is simple stuff. A crap game at Tranmere will not cost us promotion. Not winning during August and September is what will cost us promotion - if it does!
  6. I don't think there is a 'worrying trend'. I think people haven't bothered to look and see that Brentford beat Norwich and drew with Leeds at home, or that Exeter drew with Norwich and Swindon and beat Leeds 2-0 at home... Wycombe drew at Elland Road, drew at home with Swindon... and so on and so on and so on... I think people live in a fecking bubble where they take no account of the opposition, their motivation, the referee or luck and simply believe we can WIN every game come what may. They have no idea how the top teams do against these clubs but bemoan our performance as worse, when often it is actually the same as other top clubs, if not fecking better! They are bonkers. On which note I'm off for a drink...
  7. But this is what people seem to believe is possible? how is it they can get so wound up over one defeat in 2010 - on March 6th?? Feck me, for most of my supporting life we have won LESS games than any other club. We are now playing decent football, are still in with as much chance tonight of promotopn as we were yesterday, alright with one game less to catch those at the top. But this could be just the kick up the arse after two dreamland games the players need. Losing ain't fun, ever, but it happens, and often when you least expect it. You'd think the way people talk that we had some sort of 'endemic' problem that needed solving. We don't. We need to keep building and getting better - everything I've sees says we are, even when we occasionnally get it wrong.
  8. I think he tries to side foot it. Probably he's been learning from someone else who used to do that rather well... He's got 11 league goals, not bad for a midfielder, the 12th highest in the league, four goals less than Barnard in the league... http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/leadsc.html That's not bad is it?
  9. What evidence is that then? A very successful businessman comes into a League One football club and thinks it's realistic to get to the Premiership in three seasons? And even if that is the case, what makes you believe promotion this season was/is part of the plan?
  10. No, but thanks to a linesman/refereeing decision this country has a world cup. So you can't claim they have no effect on the game. Anyway, that aside, what do you suggest Pardew does about Barnard and Lallana's finishing?
  11. I agree Mike. I would go 4-5-1 away. And today, given the other results, I would have taken a point as we would have been 1 closer to Huddersfield and Swindon. As it is, we have dropped a point on Milwall but not much else. Pardew is trying to win. Sometimes League One players will miss chances. I wonder myself if this has something to do with them being League One Standard? But I could be wrong...
  12. How did you feel the linesman did with the Birmingham 'goal' today? Was that Alex McLiesh's fault? In my years supporting SAINTS I have seen ref's rob us on many occasions. I have no idea whether he did today. Nor do you.
  13. How did Leeds do at Griffin Park? And yet they are second? How did Norwich do there? You take every defeat and use it to prove your bunkum theories.
  14. From 3-0 up. Who managed us then Dalek??
  15. The big difference is simply that we didn't have our team for the first ten games of the season and have really only had the team the manager wanted for three weeks. Losing today is not the reason we are 20 points behind Norwich - all the top teams have had crap results just as we have. But we gave them a head start for all the reasons we already know over the first ten games. We're still growing and leaning as a team. Some of them not fecking quickly enough granted...
  16. I think he might have been using an oft-seen but rarely understood medium called 'sarcasm'...
  17. LOL, that cheered me up after watching a horse I should have backed romp in at 8/1 and then listening to that crap from Liverpool suburbs...
  18. It is. Today was a disaster, but so was Huddersfield losing to Gillingham, Leeds drawing at home to Brentford, and so on... We should have won today, no excuses. But teams get beaten - sometimes players have off days, sometimes they don't turn up. Pardew gambled to WIN today while a point would have helped us gain on many of our rivals... and yet he will be slated for it. What's he supposed to do? Players missed great chances. We've scored 12 goals in five games, just maybe too many in some of those games, and used up all our luck...
  19. That I agree with. What's changed about our approach away from home? Should we go back to the 4-5-1 that saw us win 3-1 three games on the spin?
  20. The same people who had already written off our play-off chances are now writhing in agony about a sloppy defeat to Tranmere... which was already irrelevant, apparently. I think perhaps we have too many big girls blouses on this forum. People who enjoy despair, maybe? I still think there will be plenty of twists and turns before the end of the season and our chances of going up got a little bit worse today. Not much worse, just a little.
  21. I think it's mental. There was nothing wrong with the pitch today, and precious little wrong with it at Wycombe... So what is wrong when we play away from home??
  22. He is currently polishing his Purdeys...
  23. our play off chances have got no worse - because huddersfield have also lost - we've just given ourselves one less game to catch them which is fecking annoying.
  24. Will the people who asked for the substitutions to be made accept that it has now cost us a point? We had gained on Huddersfield and Swindon, now we've done nothing today FFS
  25. only on sky not in the real world
