Too many players. Played out of position. No settled back four. Insufficient focus on central defence. These were all GB's failings. And now the new bloke is doing the same. Why?
-
So far, all we have heard from Rupert is how he is saving money. Well, that's great. Every business needs to cut costs. BUT they also need to increase revenue or income. So come along Rupert, Michael and friends - what are the grand plans to raise money?? Now that all the silver is just about pawned... Once every player of any value is gone, then what's the idea?? And you had the audacity to criticise the last board for hoping that a white knight was out there, oh and they found one too - which you rejected. So what's your plan - quickly, the clock is ticking - another day wasted.

Who did the club buy the shares from?
-
Madness. If we're now playing the reserves and youth teams in the same formations and they train together we need 23 players in our first team squad. The two right backs should play right back. One in the first team, the other in the reserves. This really is simple stuff.
-
Then Rupert could fund £1.4m of a rights issue. Leon has offered £2m. We are already halfway through paying off our overdraft. And it's only taken twenty minutes so far. Keep going.
-
That's business. Directors buy shares all the time to prop up thier share price and to show they have FAITH they can turn things and the share price around. Are you saying our Directors/shareholders are exempt from blame on how the share price of their business performs?? This is a wonderful opportunity for them to increase their shareholding and when they make the club a success, for them to make a packet. Oh, you see a flaw don't you... IS it that the current Directors/shareholders are inept??

On the contrary, I think a lot of thought has gone into having young, cheap players on our books who we might improve and sell at a profit. Not a bad thing necessarily. But very bad when it is not ALL directed at improving the first 11. A Lowe mistake we know of old. Spend money on radio, catering, bogs, carpets, anything but footballers. Why? God knows. But you think he would look at the people who pay the highest wages and realise they are all at the top of their respective leagues around the world. Funny that.
-
What you and I would do, sensibly, is to target our spending to afford the best possible players in the positions. Maybe have 23 players? A good mix of experience and youth even? But we're not running the club. A Leopard is. And in ten years, all I've seen is spots.

The point is we have bought cheaper players to allow for the ones we have to go - that much is obvious, sadly. We need cash badly to sort the mess at this club out. Holmes is Skacel's replacement, Smith is Dyer's, Forecast is Kelvin's, Gasmi is Lallana's and so on and so on until we have a club languishing in the Blue Square or one of these big-mouthed tw4ts on the board wakes up...
-
Right, so our board want to run a business do they? Well then, this is what you do. We have a rights issue next week at 20p a share. I'll buy some. You will buy some. We'll have a stake in the club. All these fans with cash can buy some. They will have a stake in the club. The club will have the money it needs to pay off some of the overdraft and stave off relegation. What's stopping you Rupert and Co - your own greed?? Above the needs of the business and shareholders you purpot to represent? Shame on you.
-
But apparently we have Fans with money who have talked about buying in? NOW is the time. Because our team will be decimated in a few weeks. I don't think these so called wealthy fans - Fulthorpe, Salz, whomever - appreciate the gravity of the situation.
-
If you are in contact with any of the people who have brazenly briefed various parties about their capacity to or desire to help this club financially, NOW is the time. Not next week, not next month, not next season. NOW. Only a change of ownership or direction can help us avoid relegation. We need urgently to buy some experienced players to supplement some of our raw talent. This needs money. This needs new investment or ownership. Speak now or it will be too late. 30 days and the clock is ticking.

The set-up is wrong. The signings are determined by the set-up. The players are being signed with the long-term in mind. So they fit the bill perfectly. The plan is progressing to plan. Is it the right plan?? That's the point.
-
I wish people could be a bit more sensible. The kid's former manager is now managing Watford. He probably has a future there - he doesn't with us. He knows the manager and that the manager knows Chelsea inside out. For HIS career it's a better move. Our coach said it was Cork's choice and yet people still blame Lowe and our set-up?? Lowe is to blame for the fact that our best outfield player is a kid from Chelsea - that is fact. That is fair enough.
-
No, but it does p!ss me off that some of them have been written off already. And the signings are purely a result of the flawed strategy. The concept is buy cheap and buy young - so that's what we're getting. If I had a hole in my roof we could argue all day about the absorbancy of my carpets, the best weatherproof pyjamas and so on. But we need someone to fix the hole in our roof - or to persuade the board that a policy purely based on potential has the very real potential to drop us down a league!! But let's not end up blaming the players who are doing as well as they can and know how for their age, value and abilities.
-
It is no endictment at all. The bloke who coached him during his early career is now the Watford manager. I would have gone there too. He probably sees that as a more likely future home and here he was always just a visitor. What is an endictment is that our best outfield player is a kid on loan!!!!!
-
Firstly, some of the comments on this thread make no sense whatsover. Some of the players haven't pulled on a shirt in anger and could turn out to be anything. Second, some of the players are being judged on three/four games which is patent nonsense - Crouch, Fuller, Bennett anyone? Third, you could throw Ronaldinho into our team and he wouldn't look half the player he is in reality. Most of our players can probably do a half-decent job in the CCC. Whether they are ready now is a problem. Whether they can learn from one another is a big problem. The issue is not with the players we have signed necessarily but with the strategy of signing only young and inexperienced players.

Get a lot of icebergs off Staten Island do they?

Sadly, this is the philosophy that cost us our Premiership status ultimately. Too many managers resulted in a bloated squad of mediocrity, encouraged by the idea we should not put all our eggs into three/four key players basket. Under Burley we seemed to buy nothing but midfielders. Now we seem to have lots of young players who play out of position but not a 22 which includes say 2 right backs, two left backs, etc. Now, this might be my age and that might not be how modern football works, but surely we don't need more than four strikers, eight midfielders, eight defenders and three goal-keepers no matter the bloody formation?? Surely 23 best quality players affordable is a more sound financial basis (all things considered) than 35 of 'potential'??
-
I'm not going to the game. I feel bad, but If I put my £30 into this game I might skip another later on because of the way finances are and that. So I thought, let someone else go and spend £30 - and that's a genuine £30 extra the club wouldn't have. And I'll take two tickets against Donny instead. Hope you see a win and all, but would rather we got a draw, replay, cash and then we beat Donny at home and I finally see my third win of the season!!!!!!!

Sadly he is dead - mind you, that may not have made any difference to your statement...

Yes, well, that and a demand for the instant recall of Nathan Dyer to stand trial on the whereabouts of my watch. I left my coat on my seat for ten minutes...
