  1. It was crap from the off though wasn't it? And if we'd all had a free pint, say, and people were standing and engaging in a bit of banter with the oppo - we would at least have started in the right frame of mind, even when the team inevitably let us down!
  2. Or the arrogant self-belief instilled by Radliegh old son...
  3. Done exactly the same myself for our firm because times dictate it!!! Yet they seem to want to keep getting paid regardless. Well, you can't have your cake and eat it!
  4. In a rare post in his defence, that's because we don't have any strikers at the club!!!!!
  5. With Dave Hockaday as manager with the same players? With Mark Wotte as manager with the same players? Old son, if you told me Jan would be replaced by Davies, Boothroyd, Curbs, Dowie - feck me even Georgie Graham - then we would be as one. But we are arresting a street dealer and letting the opium grower laugh at us! And the two men above are your most likely new dealers... you have been warned...
  6. Bloody good question. I'm with you.
  7. Irrespective, Forest fans will have gone home talking about how crap our support is and I would rather they went home talking about how our crap team are a disgrace to our brilliant support. I do not BLAME fans, I am merely saying we could reward supporters by giving them the things they want - to turn a blind eye to standing, to open the right corner first (not leave it closed) and to give us a free beer once in a while. What exactly is wrong with any of those things?
  8. That is not a challenge though is it?? We might as well send up one of them drones - Soothsayer or whatever we use these days... We want a bit of sport old son!!
  9. SCW claimed that a few small things can make a big difference. Well, here are some ideas: 1) tell the stewards to ignore standing in the Northam. Whatever you think about them this is the engine room of the support and allowing the opposing fans to stand while making our own sit is not conducive to vocal domination. For long periods yesterday Forest outsung us - poor, really poor. 2) when thinking about opening corners, open the Itchen/Northam first as this creates banter between opposing and home fans which is an essential element of atmosphere. Yesterday's atmosphere was like that on Jupiter... 3) give every fan a free drink every once in a while. Amazing what a bit of goodwill can do for crowd morale. 4) attack the home end in the second half. 5) have some cheer/chant-starters in every stand, paid by the club on the qt to get the crowd going. Now, I ain't saying that these things compensate for leadership and spine, but by God we have made our ground a sanitised place. Seriously, I have been to louder monasteries than the game yesterday. Yes, the players owe us. But however they're playing I don't mind a bit of a sing-song and maybe being the 12th man once in a while. Yesterday was pants as football goes for the atmosphere. No tension, no agression, no frivolity, no jolity... PS: Don't turn this into another thread slagging off the team. Just agree or not that there are some simple things we could do that couldn't hurt.
  10. As a hunting man, I think he might appreciate the opportunity to bob about in the corporate section while we take pot shots at him with a Lee Enfield...
  11. No, he would take it, shoot his Lieutenant and then hand the gun back telling you all your troubles were over...
  12. :D A bit more of this spirit and we wouldn't have half the problems...
  13. £15 - you ****ing cheapskate ****er! I'll pay double that to call you a ****ing, ****, ****, ******,*****
  14. I want my fiver back then
  15. IF ANY of them would come in, take them. But they wouldn't.
  16. Lol I have corrected my spelling, can you do the same!!!!
  17. Surely if the choice is: 1) loathed man who is a self-confessed non-fan whose plan appears doomed and who has never put a bean of his own cash into the club 2) Saints fan who has put money into the club but may be a bit misguided why are we even asking?? Crouch must accept that the club needs a plan. He may even work with the existing one. But if he was in charge, asked the fans for their support - came up with ways to encourage it. He would have a much better chance of bringing us together than Lowe, surely?? Does a single soul still support Lowe? Even though I see merit in his ideas, and can find success among his failings, I understand he is a problem. Like Maggie - his time has come. Crouch may be Heseltine but maybe he can draw out a John Major...
  18. OK, how and who can work on these people? How do we start a campaign to have him removed and someone installed who will work on a minimal fee/performance basis to review the real numbers, slim down the squad to 22 REAL footballers, bring the fans back with a series of communications and heart-to-hearts to boost the finances and give the club a real chance of, first survival, and then a better plan in the summer of 2009? Is the Trust now dead? Are we totally impotent?
  19. I think you have lost all grip on reality. Lowe is controlling the club with the complicity of the majority of shareholders. Would you like to explain the circumstances by which Lowe will step aside for this CEO?? Or by which he will be forced out? Given that the existing shareholders support the plan (or they would have voted against it) the problem remains that your gleaming new CEO would still be selected and directed by the existing shareholders. And if they are/were stupid enough to back Lowe's plan they might very easily pick another inpet CEO... there are lots of them as current economic conditions indicate only too well. No-one is saying there is no option but Lowe. The point (which I am sure you mischievously overlook) is who the f u c k is going to get rid of Lowe AND the people who supported him?
  20. We had a choice, but one dictated by available funds. Do we know the numbers involved - any of us? Is Jan working for £50 grand a year??? These are thing questions the board MUST answer and explain.
  21. Sure, and keep us this merry-go-round, let Lowe off the hook... Do we think that DMG is up to playing in thie league every week yet - if ever? Lloyd James? Pearce? Oscar Gobern? Lallana? Robertson? Patterson? Even BWP was not an automative choice after being bought... I think we'll change manager and get the same results. And that will have cost us more more money. I love the way everyone has turned on the manager and the reason he's failing and the PEOPLE responsible are getting away scott free... again.... Should he be here? No. Could someone else get more out of the players? Who knows...
  22. When did a turkey vote for Xmas? A dictator vote for democracy? You bandy about this idea that we could appoint a CEO like it's a solution. Who would direct the CEO I wonder???
  23. Exactly They MUST hold a peace-forum and work out how to save us. They could be men. But I fear they will be mice.
  24. He clearly believed that the club had to be self-financing. That is the correct decision in the absence of wealth from a third party investment. The previous regime borrowed on the basis that someone would arrive and clear the debt - sound familiar... So, the idea was right - still is. The execution is currently not good enough. What of this is down to the core raw material available and the coaching set-up's use of this material is open to debate. Even with Pearson, I suspect we would have had excatly the same squad. So, question is, do we change manager and hand him the same squad but hope for better results? OR do we give the existing incumbent a chance with better raw material. Both will cost the same - I reckon. I don't care either way, but I fear that the Lowe option will be to maintain the squad as is and appoint an even less experienced coach. This is, however you like to dress it, a problem caused by lack of finance. This was Rupert's solution. The idea he could have appointed a manager based on projections of bigger crowds from better results... would Barclays have bought it? Who knows. Who knows what the projections were under the existing regime?? It's time for Lowe and Wilde to answer these questions and explain their strategy and thinking once and for all!!! With the REAL numbers.
