Huh - I'd assumed you were speaking from an authority having been there at the game and seen the bunch of lads lift the kid over the concrete wall to push him onto the pitch? If you weren't actually at the game and didn't see it but 'heard in on the radio' then no wonder your judgement is clouded.
-
I think my 'over-reaction' is partly down to the fact that you're not even contemplating that what this kid has done was wrong and you, as a father, wouldn't have a problem if your little girl did the same thing. Perhaps we're from two different backgrounds but I was always been taught to play by the rules and if I had run onto the pitch with my dad in the crowd I wouldn't have been held aloft as a hero, I'd be regretting the day that I ever ran onto the pitch when the game was still in play. Oh, and as for questioning my educational background, I have a degree and have been employed with the same company for the past 14 years so I guess I must have pulled the blinkers over their eyes. Stick to football insults please and don't question my intelligence.

Christ - I'm in the minority and TH has had a go at three separate people in the last few minutes? I'm also very very happy that I'm not your dad. Let's just hope you don't procreate.

Tell you what - you give it up first. And how do you know what AP would say? More than happy to have an adult discussion with him on this subject which is, unfortunately, not something I think you can have on these forums.
-
Yup - AP has gone down in my estimations with that comment. Let's encourage people to run onto the pitch each game and impress the manager. What a muppet. It's a football pitch not a fecking playground.

Excellent vid - was worried when Holt got up as Bart placed the ball that Holt might have spoiled the start of the freekick. Oh how glad am I that Holt was too slow and managed to have us celebrating in stereo

I was sat within spitting distance of the lad and am pretty sure that he wasn't with a parent and there weren't any 'responsible adults' that I could see ...

Back a page or so in the thread but brief highlights here until BBC / SaintsPlayer does something better!

*sigh* and after a nights sleep you don't see this any more than just a young sweet innocent child having a laugh of which we should applaud and encourage?
-
Is that it? Banned for what and from where?
-
Have uploaded them here for those that have can download 22Mb relatively quickly!

Ahhh - such a well worded response. I've had a word with myself and still think it's unacceptable for parents or guardians of a 5/6/7 year old to allow them to run onto the pitch like that during a game. I can only assume that they also have no problems with their child playing on railway lines.

Finally some sense (after my rantings last night in the post-match thread). The kid was goaded on by a bunch of 'lads' who had moved down to the front of Kingsland and were giving the stewards a hard time. Didn't see his parents anywhere in sight. I'd be mortified if any child of mine ran onto the pitch during a match. Antonio's miss IMHO was a direct result of this situation. Had we not won I'm sure others on here who are now saying "It's a bit of a laugh" would have a different opinion. Added to that this really set the way for a few more mindless idiots running onto the pitch at full time and the stewards and police having to tackle them. I hope they are banned. Will be interesting to hear if Papa was taken to one side after the match about his antics with the kid.
-
I think that sums it up - you weren't there. The kid ran around the pitch ducking and diving around the stewards trying to catch him and laughing being goaded on by the bunch of teenagers that put him on the pitch. He got to the team lined up on the centrespot with the stewards closing in and all the players stood there not knowing what to do but then Papa picked him up (muppet IMHO). Yours disgracefully signing off for the night. TS PS can't remember a match or result quite like this before - COYR - "We're all going to Wembley" (28th March already in the diary).

On reflection they might have been 8 ? :smt040

OK, so - quoting the 'full original message' I'm 39 but won't step onto the hallowed turf, unless I'm invited (which I have been) Now, I don't think I'm annal or anal in any way. I have extremely good common sense and have made a living out of it. Maybe the problem I have is that I don't think that kid had a parent with them. He was goaded on by a bunch of teenagers to run on the pitch for a laugh. For me, I can do without that when it interrupts the flow of a game. But maybe I'm just living in the dark ages.
-
Ah sorry, f*** it, let's all run on the pitch then to 'show our emotions'. I can do that and so can my kids on the terraces - we don't need to be on the pitch to show emotion

Thought Norwich played well and didn't allow Saints to play their game. Seemed every loose ball was picked up by a yellow shirt. Their number 14 (sorry, Hoolahan or something) was fantastic and a real playmaker into everything. Glad he was subbed! Papa was good and held the line well ! I usually don't like James but today was not too bad and the penalty miss is just one of those things and I can't blame him for that. Hopefully he won't be too hard on himself. Lallana chased a lot but didn't really make great inroads. Those of you in the Itchen - didn't their number 6 punch one of players a few times right in front of the linesman? Thought he was off but only a yellow card ffs?? Can't believe we scored in injury time - that's not what we do ? I need a few more beers tonight to understand why I feel so so so happy and we didn't really play that well !!
-
Penalties question - was it (in order): Lambert (goal) Papa (goal) James (miss) Lallana (goal) Wotton (goal) Antonio (miss) Hammond (goal) Thomas (goal) Is that right?

Right, my two penneth and I think I might be the minority here. 1. I doubt he was 5 - more like 7. I have a 4 year old and a 7 year old who come the football with me and I'd never ever ever allow them to run onto the pitch during a game on their own. I *think* he was with a group of young 'lads' who spilled into the front of Kingsland having left the Northam early before the equaliser (great support lads) and constantly were told to sit down by the stewards and find seats rather than stand but failed to do as requested. 2. No one is going to convince me that it's OK to run onto the pitch during a game no matter how old they are 3. The young 'fans' obviously thought this was funny and, therefore, led on by a 7 year old, some of them decided to try the pitch invasion themselves - how clever was that (especially for the 'fan' that was tackled to the ground and sat on by two police officers and two officials). 4. I'm sure the 5/6/7 year old is really chuffed now. I was sat right behind the 'lads' when he was handed back and he was in tears because he was very very scared (and don't you dare tell me it was because of the way the stewards handled him).

Seen the goal on SSN - definitely Papa - I thought Lambert might have got it but he headed it down to feet in the 6 yard box and Papa snatched the goal.
-
Yup, which is why the parent / responsible should be banned for not controlling their child. After all, how many people actually saw the Antonio miss rather than watching the stewards giving back the child to the bunch of slightly older kids in the Kingsland? I'm sure that distraction caused Antonio to miss.
-
BTW - SSN showed the goals a few mins ago - sure they'll probably repeat in 30 mins or so....
-
Um, isn't running on the pitch an offence that means ejection from the ground and a potential ban?
-
And didn't he give a big stare to the Northam End when he scored the penalty? Should have been booked IMHO for that but was already on a yellow I think...
