Huh? Looked at that site and more confused than before I looked at it. So you're saying that anyone who's in an offside position when a ball is kicked can never be back in play until, um, when? The ball goes next out of play in 1,2,3 minutes time? Ball played over the top, was flicked on by the opposition and our player ran onto it. No way offside IMHO.

So, had the defender attempted to header it back to his goalkeeper and mis-cued with Papa running onto it that would have been offside as well? I think not. The ball came over and regardless of whether Papa was or wasn't offside from the original kick the defender tried to play the ball, it hit his shoulder and Papa was quick and picked the stray ball and then was flagged offside. That call was totally incorrect.

Yup - was impressed with Tranmere the first half the way they came to spoil the game. They marked tight and I was seriously worried about the 2nd half. However, we continued to run around and eventually they slipped up to allow Hammond to score and they looked shattered from then on. After the match the girlfriend said "I knew we were going to win when that first goal went in". I had to remind her that she's a Saints supporter and we just don't say things like that ! However, I knew I felt the same as well, today was going to be our day and the real turning point in the season (backed up by an emphatic win against Norwich on Tuesday night). Second half we also played wide (specially in the last half of the 2nd half) - stretched Tranmere, need more of that please. On a fantastic high tonight. Only area for improvement is James - someone shoot him please. Sorry but I truely hope that's the last time I see him play at St Mary's. AP is playing an extremely dangerous game putting him in that position. Anyhow, great game, great result, great position in the league (come on, at the start of the season we were glad to a. have a team and b. try to end up mid-table and build on the team for promotion next season). Good crowd today - the 'Papa is always offside' was good and was a great Markus song. When we sang 'Pardew Pardew give us a wave' was impressed the speed he responded. And finally, last 10 mins when OWTS started off slow - lump in the throat time, looks like we're getting back to 'the good ol' days' ! COYR.

Clean sheet - thank god for that. But once again I have no nails left. Out of the relegation zone - FA Cup final here we come
