  1. when the new owners come in can we introduce a system where no general threads are allowed to be hijacked for Lowe/Crouch/Wilde/Askham etc, support/attacks/spin? If people want to harp on about the past they can do it in one thread, call it 'obsessive hatred/luvvies corner, 'the inquest'', or whatever. That would leave the rest of the forum to discuss football and the future and anyone who really wants to waste more time on debating ALL of the to$sers who have gone before have their own little thread. It would be cleansing and good therapy for all and would mean the majority of fans wouldn't have that sinking feeling of 'here we go again' whenever we stumble across someone's personal take on history. It was bad enough suffering the dark days without having to relive them all over the forum like a war crimes tribunal. Most of those involved were to$sers, they are NEARLY history, let's look forward and UP, and argue and disagree about stuff that actually matters - like tactics, girls, and pies. COYR
  2. I think that's the first time I have EVER seen a man dressed as a Swiss army knife so it is worth it for comic value and rarity! Though I suspect the health and safety officer will not be pleased to see a man running round the ground on matchdays with a tin opener for genitals, so we may have to think again....
  3. what did Barclays hope to gain from launching administration at that specific time? They risked losing the lot (90% ish). The casual observer could suggest that perhaps the bank manager who made the decision wasn't too concerned about Barclays getting their money back and had other fish to.....er, grill? From being a simple handover of power, the administration period has turned into an era in its own right. Let's get the Swiss in and then worry later about delving through what looks from the outside like a proper Fry-up from start to finish.
  4. the poor bloke has just spent a year at the end of a firing range surrounded by idiots. He must be shell-shocked and have the Nam stare, so a few months sat on a bench, a Premiership wage and the occasional run out in a big game is a no brainer. Ditto Surman - he couldn't say no. It is when players go on strike/depart muttering about going to 'a big club' that they deserve abuse - imo. Good luck to him.
  5. Lordswood gets the prize for Swiss roll into town! I was going for Toblerowners. How long before either of these make it into the Echo via this site? Our lawyers are watching.
  6. family business? Does that mean they live with their mum and dad in a 3 bed semi in Barnet? And if the Echo are hunting them down, the company car is parked out the front, you will know it when you see it, its the house in the shadow of the truck... No one is going to be kicking tyres bigger than that, and for that reason alone it must be true.
  7. I have always felt that as a club we abandoned Jones, and with hindsight we let him down when he needed support, the resultant illness for his father was an added aspect that would have made most people very bitter - Dave has shown incredible dignity. I'm not a luvvie! But Rupert was in a difficult position, I recall at the time hearing that the police were certain they had a rock solid case, if the club had that same false feedback I can understand the decision. There is a thin line between supporting an innocent man and finding that you have been defending a pervert. I would like to think that the officers responsible for canvassing the charges and trying to smooth over the inaccuracies were charged/sacked and that the accusers were charged.....but I fear not. Dave's quiet approach contrasts a bit with post-cancer Lance Armstrong when he returned to cycling and won a stage. At the finish he went looking for his former team managers so he could say to them 'aren't you the ****ers that abandoned me when I was dying?' Thankfully Dave has shown no such thoughts about Saints and I hope the majority of fans will always welcome him, should he ever make it into the Conference!
  8. The more financially-minded may be able to confirm, putting individual consortiums aside for a mo, in simple terms are we locked in a circle of no progress? No one will buy a club that isn't assured a league to play in, and to even establish a value for the club there needs to be confirmation from the authorities about the penalty situation. No one will risk millions without those assurances, and the league won't give them. Without them on the table, Fry's hands are tied, he will have to give the club away and the creditors he's serving will lose so much they won't accept it, so in turn the league won't give assurances about our place, so Fry will have to give us away, the creditors won't be satisfied, the league won't be happy with that, the buyers won't pay much, and round and round we go. The only way to break the circle is for the league to clarify their poorly-disguised caveat about sporting sanctions, or for the buyers to trust them (!) and risk millions on what could be a league two club at any moment. And has Kevin Keegan arrived yet? He was coming in on Rod Stewart's yacht within 48 hours I believe.
  9. so many Saints memories - there was the day that Fialka drove his little Metro to the cashpoint for a tenner to pay back his mum and the machine took his card, that was poignant. But it has to be Matt's final goal at The Dell - if you weren't emotional you weren't there. Perfect football theatre.
  10. 'I've just had a thought, supporting Saints seems like a good idea.'

    Surman

Nice lad, just couldn't deliver when we needed, I wish him well. But it's an amazing bit of business in this climate, and a lot of money to give a vagrant begging in the gutter, cos let's face it, in footballing terms we are a grubby tramp with wee down our trousers... If Mr Fry has negotiated this he has obviously saved his best work for this week...now he has covered his fee perhaps he could get the sale sorted, at least get us into a hostel, and maybe some shoes.
  12. this thread went downhill straight after the promising start of people offering up their women - if I was him I would want to see photos first, and recent ones. It now seems to be spot the ******, and there are several to choose from. What did MLT ever do for us??....I checked out his goals on youtube and most of them were mi****, and the other 35 featured were just lucky because he was surrounded by superior players like Dowie. And let's not forget that as soon as he got too old he abandoned us, in fact it's his fault we went down. Both times. Bastard. And don't start me on Bates....or Keegan, Channon, Ball, Davies etc, all losers.
  13. This firesale is about Fry realising that he has achieved absolutely nothing in months and he is now days away from having ****ed the whole thing up, with supporting roles from several. Thees transfers will give him something for creditors should he wind up. It's going to be a massive few days for us, and also for Mr Fry and Begbies Traynor who need to show everyone that they are a capable company. If nothing constructive happens this week it will be time to accept that our club is just a magnet for incompetent businessmen.
  14. My first thought was, why are rich owners selling players? - but it isn't the prospective buyers' decision. It is about players who think they are too good to play at the level that they took the club to, so imo they can move on and we can have a clean sweep in a dressing room that couldn't deliver when we needed it most. They both played full and inactive roles in the worst Saints team of all time, I wish them well but I have got over the departures. Change is good.
  15. Mr Fialka, walk the walk - the time for talk is over, show us the money. Matt's reputation is firmly intact, he is untouchable, he has offered Pinnacle his support for his love of the club. Mr Lynham has been very good with his updates and I think he is genuinely trying his best for the club, however, if this falls apart his reputation will be damaged. imo Mr Fry is teetering on the brink at the moment, he has taken a very long time and a HUGE fee to achieve nothing thus far. Begbies Traynor could still go down in history as the saviours of the club, or as the least talented admin company to meddle in sport. And Mr Fialka? If he can deliver the finance he has promised then he will be hailed as a hero and will be able to point the finger at the many doubters. It is too early to suggest that he may yet be exposed as a mentally-unbalanced fantasist and failed non-league player who lives with Mummy and Daddy and just loves seeing himself on the telly or hanging out with proper footballers. He still has six days to avoid that scenario, I hope for his and my sake that he has financial backing and forces the Echo to apologise. If he doesn't deliver, for me he will go straight into the top ten of people who have brought Saints to their knees, maybe even making the top three....at least the previous regimes did it because they were stupid and naive, not for vanity. So, Matt, keep the faith. Tony, get it sorted. Mr Fry, pull your finger out. Jobs a goodun.
  16. this is like trying to investigate a car crash when you are still bouncing off the barriers. This personal attack poorly-disguised as a pointless thread could wait for seven days. We are all miffed at what is occuring, let's leave the hangings until the end, then we will know how many gallows we need.
  17. I still can't find any forum threads that make reference to Pinnacle and the man who lives with his parents, anyone know if they have completed yet?
  18. Why the depression?! It has been well publicised that his brother moved out from his parents last year so they have been getting extra income from a lodger, Michael has had his own bedroom, and the housing market is booming so his figures this year should be even better, maybe even enough to pay one player for a fortnight. Ye of little faith.... What's that? you want to buy Aldershot and Man utd as well? Course you do, take your tranquilisers and put the scissors down.
  19. my heart says, 'oh my god it's Aldershot all over again', my head says, 'but someone put some serious money on the table and TL has been really up front so he deserves respect, and those two things give Pinnacle street cred'. We may have just been introduced to another middle man, which could be considered progress, however slow. Now I await further news with a mixture of curiosity, suppressed excitement and potential horror.
  20. is this the same site that incorrectly told us catergorically that the deal was all over a while back, for no apparent reason other than to worry fans? Most odd to alienate your only audience..... Did read their site once, won't bother again.
  21. maybe he just got a lift home with Claus?
  22. with decent backing it could take us three or four years but let's get out of their effing poxy league and back into the Prem. That's the best plan.
  23. I couldn't find anything else on the forum about the ten point penalty, I think we need to debate that in depth - anyone know anything? And did someone say that Keegan was at Fulham?
  24. I note there are a couple on here (out of hundreds!) who are obviously legal minds, hopefully they will grasp my layman version of events - Law is black and white and fact-based, so forget, 'we deserve it', 'I'm tired of fighting it', 'let's just get on' etc. We are all fed up with it BUT imo, you cannot meekly surrender ten points when a penalty has not been correctly applied, especially if it adds a year to a multi-million pound development plan. That would be the equivalent of us conceding a dodgy last minute penalty that relegated us and saying, 'well we were rubbish all season so justice has sort-of been done by an appalling linesman's incorrect decision...' Surely these are the facts for legal purposes - The club has never been in administration. The club did not miss paying wages (delayed but not missed). The club is still trading. And if the answer is 'but we will go into administration without a buyer' - Yes, and that is the time that the penalty applies - when it actually happens, and it hasn't. Meaning that the league took poor legal advice, jumped the gun, and now has a problem, which they are trying to make ours.
  25. is this additional hassle all because someone delayed admin by a week?
