is this additional hassle all because someone delayed admin by a week?

reading between the lines could it be that Pinnacle made the bid looking to appeal, BUT they are now being advised that if they don't give up that right, there may be no league slot for their new club to play in? That would be a big problem however much you had paid. Sounds to me like the league are playing hardball to cover up their obvious mistakes, but if they are a private members' club they can do whatever they want..... until someone takes them to court. And thanks to Tony for his info and time, tis refreshing to have some honesty from/about the top of the club.

the story at the time was that the FL investigators wanted to delve further than their remit allowed, Mr Fry correctly and politely declined when they attempted that, the investigators threw a wobbly and the FL put some spin on it to try and make themselves look good. Why a FL investigation would have the power to demand details from a different company to the football club is beyond me....? Sadly Lord tosser's gang now look like a bunch of people who dropped a clanger then shot themselves in the foot, and they are currently reloading before shooting a hole in their other flip flop. A casual observer might consider that the former duck-house owning, moat-cleaning, dog food purchasing, false-mortgage claiming leech on society could stick his penalty where the sun don't shine, but that would be harsh and something I couldn't support.

anyone booked the Potter's Heron yet? That would be a cool way to do the press conference. (if any of the above happens....)

many seasons ago I missed one home game due to illness - 5-5 with Coventry (?) my recollection is that Cassells went a bit crazy, think it was a midweek game. Did see the 8-2 to make up for it.

if you want to see someone getting studded in the throat, check out last season's worst - Bradford v Wycombe. Not for the faint-hearted, bet you can't watch it without wincing. In fact if I have failed to do the link properly through being dim, you won't be able to watch it at all! http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2pXFUYU7ks

The police make no mention of a mass brawl in arresting him, just a breathalyser and a confession, they would have charged him with resisting arrest if they had needed to call all of Hampshire's on-duty officers to one incident. Also I believe in this day and age the police are aware that the passing of time reduces the blood alcohol levels so they do account for that, and I'm not sure that the defence of being able to react quicker than a random sober person is a popular plea, especially when you have just shunted a van onto it's roof. Claus made a mistake, then another, so he was an idiot, and he got what he deserved. Great servant to our club, very poor role model for drivers. He will do his community time and we will all move on, perhaps as a result of his case some people will stop driving under the influence of anything, maybe not. But what we all know is that the first thing the next idiot will say as they get out and start picking bits of pushchair out of their front grille is, 'I only had one pint...' Drink drivers? ******* ******* all of them.

my favourite is Cameroon against Argentina where two or three lunges in succession ended with Benjamin Massing connecting good and proper with Canniga going down the right wing. (see youtube) You could see it coming and the final impact didn't disappoint! You would get jailed for that now.

well he Mustapha a good reason for going. I'll get my coat, and his.

I hope the dodgy arab disappears and they don't sell anyone, their wage bill will cripple them by October. I too would like the top four to be threatened, but not by a team supported by people who couldn't respect a minute's silence for Ted. From Rownhams it may not seem relevant but the abuse is very real further east.

Letissia - a sister at last for the triplets Rupert, Michael and Leon. Think I know which one will be the family favourite in years to come.
-
at the moment it is the crappest party ever. 20,000 people stood about with a plastic cup of squash each waiting for someone to find the record player, tumbleweed blowing through the village hall. Hopefully someone will get the party going soon......
-
Between the lines are they suggesting that the arab has already brought/bought a senior Prem league official on board to smooth the path of a dodgy takeover? I do hope the Sun keeps making waves and other media look deep into the deal until it all comes crashing down. If that is the case I reckon they won't be able to pay the wages by Christmas, and that would be very funny.

good nostalgic stuff. Anyone remember the Spurs reserves game at the Dell? There is only one worth mentioning. Now that was a crowd.

what happens if Pinacle/MLT retain Wotte as manager
rallyboy replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
I was no fan but we might find that free of idiotic background interference and with players of some quality who care, Wotte might be a decent manager. He might not, but we don't really know, all we have established thus far is that he couldn't motivate the worst team in Saints' history. So if our club is saved and the saviour who has piled millions of pounds into Saints makes a decision, I for one am happy to go with it, it would be ungrateful not to! -
That had me worried for a mo, when I saw that there was a desperate hunt to find 11 Saints fans I thought Rupert had just completed a buyout. It seems the old bill are as good at operating technology as they are at investigating crime. I hope their holiday snaps are better than those, I would imagine there are people who have better phone shots from the Northam.

sorry Miserableoldgit but pfc123 is correct on this one. Starkey did the editions up until the previous August, then Peter Snow and his son took over and it had a bit more of an edge too it, less text, more graphics.

isn't grammar the one they **** when their sister's not about?
-
Scaremongering rubbish. There is no news there, we all knew that no one would wave goodbye to half a million just to look at the books and we all know that Mark Fry is negotiating with no aces. We all know that a deal is complex, I have learned nothing that from that piece. Can I have five minutes of my life back please? Move along now, nothing to see here.......
-
when they move on I do hope the clean up isn't too unpleasant, and if the weather cools down a bit that new drive should be fine.

If you were the only chairman in a division who decided that enough was enough and you were going to trim your outgoings to make the company stable, you would finish bottom and the fans would go up the wall, demanding that you pay wages and buy players that the company couldn't sustain. Peer pressure has driven all clubs into this madness. It needs a directive from the leagues, wage-capping, transparent accounting, something to make everyone step into some sort of line. Good luck organising that!
-
My understanding is that the club has at no point been in administration and has not missed wage payments (delayed maybe, which is unprofessional and unacceptable but not insolvency), I don't believe we have missed paying other clubs, we may have delayed payment, but that is something that all businesses practice. The club may have sailed close to the wind but if it is sold soon I can't see that in black and white legal terms the league has any sort of case to support their personal view that the club was in administration, and to enforce a penalty. Not guilty, appeal upheld, Championship here we come - next case!

talking of finalising deals, I see that the arab down the road hasn't completed due diligence but says that he is buying Pompey because they don't have the big debts of some clubs... He also says that hasn't got the £100M required to buy Newcastle, though he is rumoured to be paying £60M up the road (before another £100M ish required to get them in shape). I think I know which one I would go for as a business investment, even with the Championship status - Newcastle has the fractionally worse dodgy wage bill than Fratton but with the ground and fanbase. I see problems ahead for the Pompey deal if he has been told initially that they don't have significant debts, even former Prem club-owning alleged torturers won't want to fund that.
-
Bearing in mind they have stretched their own rules in dealing with our holding company and dealt appallingly with Luton, I can't see there will be much progress for the rising number of clubs living on the brink. How many duck houses has he got?
-
well if they live in London that cuts the field down a bit... And I have a friend in London so he'll know who it is, Londoners are famed for getting to know their neighbours and their willingness to generate community spirit, leave it with me.
