  1. I'm sure the club is days ahead of the "news" in their actions. It always amuses me when people comment on these tweets as if they are live news!!!
  2. If we REALLY do want O'Riley and he's that good for us, then I don't see why we've not made it happen yet given at least one other team seems interested. Some players are just "one on the list of suitable options" and some are more specific. If we don't get this done this week I doubt we will.
  3. Yeah I agree, 5 more sounds alot but it is needed. Some players will go, ABK, Lis, Sulemana maybe, and a few of the youngsters will no doubt go out on loan. Dibling should be in the squad, as should SAA. I also agree GK is critical. We've heard whispers that lots is going on so likely there will be a few more new players by the end of the window.
  4. BBD is a decent if unspectacular signing. Unlike many I think Stewart will come good and I suspect the club will assume this. We still have AA who can of course play through the middle but I'd love it if we get one more. If we can get O'Riley (who I admit I've never seen play, but from all reports is decent) plus this lad from metz then that's some good attacking business. I think we still lack another DCM, hopefully another coming in there. Plus a GK. If we can get these done then it will be a very good window, which is going very well so far!
  5. Just get him in!!! 20m or 30m....who cares!!!
  6. It's an Ox eye daisy
  7. SR, Dragon, have stated their desire to be a top 8 contending club if I remember correctly. This means they MUST invest in some quality players. Too many clubs are now purchasing players for 20, 30, 40m, clubs who we might consider outside the top 6. The reality is, they either step up or we will just go straight down or certainly not last more than a couple of seasons. I expect 3 more players at least in the 20-30m bracket to sign this window regardless of what many people seem to think is a very limited budget. These guys aren't actually srltupid!!! As for the youngsters conversations, of course ideally we keep them and they develop into PL class players but if the clubs judgement is that they won't or the money is too much to refuse (and helps current scenario) then so be it. I don't care what name represent Saints, I just want those names to be good enough to help us compete every season in the top 10/12 without any potential worries for relegation - but this is getting harder every single season - hence the need to buy some quality now.
  8. This does not say AMc us number one GK....
  9. How do you define "right players for our system"?
  10. If the owners are serious about stating in and competing in this league they will have to spend big 25m+ on at least 1 or two players each season. The quality in the top 10 is getting better and better and only those outside that who can find some gems but also get a few decent quality players in their team will not be fighting relegation. We have potential in our twma and squad and that's good but we need some real quality NOW. Ramsdale would be just that. Here's hoping the club know this and can pull it off.
  11. He's played there a lot! But I get your point.
  12. Is it possible that we are planning on KWP staying and signing a new deal and that Taylor will actually be used as a left-sided CB (probably in a 3), with Sugawara/KWP and KWP/Manning/Larios as the wing back choices and as the youngsters develop?
  13. Ramsdale would be a very decent signing, preferably permanently but on loan is clearly most likely. Even if he cost 25-30m he'd be worth it as he is still only 26. Personally I think he's better than Pickford. We've done some good business so far, and unlike some others I do believe we will splash a bit of cash on 3 or 4 really good players, as in 20m type of bracket. Ramsdale (ideally!!), a striker, and a winger. Still think we need another DCM (Ghoddos sounded like a good option to me, but seems to have gone very quiet), even the OX. Jack Clarke I think would be a good signing and then we need a striker. Breton-Diaz would be OK, even that Luton striker. We need a couple really.
  14. What problem?
  15. I think we will spend 15-20m on Downes, 15-20m on Clarke, 20-25m on ORiley, 10-12m on this French CM and 20m on a striker of note. We have some income already, which may of covered the signings made, and we will probably sell KWP for 10-15, ABK for similar, Alcaraz for 15-20, and maybe Sulemana for similar. Which broadly speaking covers a big chunk of that. It's folly (not yohann🤣) to think we won't spend 15-25m each on 4 or 5 players because the league is so much stronger than even a year ago and I'm pretty confident our owners get the importance of stating up for quite a while!!! We may not get our first choices as such but there will be many choices that we have of good quality. I have a good feeling we will be very pleased in a few weeks with the business completed.
  16. I'd like Brereton-Diaz as he and Armstrong have played together for a couple of seasons. Those two, Stewart and evens Adams is not the worst 4 we could have, but like others I'd prefer to move on from Adams now. If looking at Championship, Smozdics must be worth a punt, but perhaps there's a more senior/experienced option out there. We have started this window well, I am confident it will continue that way. Downes, O'Riley, the Japanese RB, Fraser, plus another DCM and we are looking ok. Ideally a GK of note but I don't believe we will🤦‍♂️ which might be the only bad mark on this window!!
  17. This Wellington LB signing makes me wonder whether Charlie Taylor will be used as a CB primarily?
  18. It seems to me that the PL are becoming overly controlling on how clubs do business and this latest issue of theirs seems only to have happened because clubs have out smarted them to get around the PLs own rigid and what seems to me to be restrictive PSR rules. This will not end well I predict. 🤣
  19. I never understand it when people "moan" about signings when the window is still open. We can only judge fully at the close of it and then really only after they've played. The business so far seems very pragmatic, and shred in a few cases. THB is a no-brainer decent signing but that was great business last summer really. Taylor is smart, loads of PL experience for no transfer fee, great, and a player who has always looked good if not spectacular which is fine by me as Amy better and he'll get snapped up anyway. Wood and Edwards sound like two excellent signings to me especially for the money quoted. Sure it's a step up to PL but if RM thinks they're good enough then that's fine for now. Like others I would like a ready to go CB especially if JB goes but signing 3 may be asking alot as it stands. Downes is unproven in the PL but clearly proven in our system and is paramount to our progress. If speculation is to be believed he will sign shortly. The longer it goes on the more doubt will be raised. We certainly need another CDM, Ghoddos may be smart but that seems to have gone quiet. We definitely need 3 or 4 attacking additions. Fraser seems done and Lallana are good experienced options. A winger like Clarke might be good and we certainly need a striker. I'm not keen on us keeping Adams. Stewart I predict will come good. I can't see a new GK arriving but we really need one. This is one area of concern I have about RM but overall I think he will continue to do a great job. I'm very pleased they extended their potential stays. The next 3 or 4 weeks will see quite a few ins and outs at Saints so chill out nervous people and enjoy it🤣
  20. THB, Bednarek, Stephens and Wood will probably be it as Taylor can also play CB, but I'd prefer another first choice. Stephens doesn't make me feel safe, and who knows whether Wood will be good at this level. But as we know RM loves Stephens so we may be stuck with that group unfortunately.
  21. 🤦‍♂️ or perhaps we are going to spend more on certain other positions. I like the Taylor signing, experienced. McCarthy not so much but maybe not first choice anyway. They will want 4 keepers. If we get Ghoddos and Fraser for free, then that's good sensible business. No point in spending money just for the sake of it. As always we need to judge at the end of the window. Personally, I think we will be very happy at that point if not sooner.
  22. Not so sure, especially if he wants to play 3 at the back.
  23. THB, Rodon, Bednarek, Edwards, and Stephens would not be a bad group. Sure we could do better but there's 3 experienced players and 2 real talents. I like it.
