Went up the miners track which was a lovely stroll until confronted with a steep scramble up a so called path. Bearing in mind it was ****ing down with rain and I had a springer spaniel pulling on the lead I got half way up and lost the main path. Couldn't turn back because the going up was really dangerous and turning back and going down with a dog pulling on the lead would've been suicide. So somehow crawled to join the pyg track with a several loose rocks careering down the slope that we'd dislodged. Continued along the pyg track and by now the gusts were galeforce and it had started to hail and the bloody waterproof walking boots were useless and I had wet feet. Got within half an hour of the summit but reached a climb up a steepish rock face that would've be ok if it was dry and not windy and I didn't have a dog, but if you'd slipped you'd have cartwheeled down hundreds of feet - so had to accept that the mountain had defeated me and trudged back down the pyg track which was a fairly easy route.
