I think it's reasonable to put the initial bad results down to a lack of a pre-season don't you?

You have disproved nothing. Taking the first 10 games out of the equation the following 10 games showed us playing great attacking football and winning games consistently. Then we slumped and have bumped along in the same vein ever since. We have not improved since the beginning of December compared to the previous 20 games and if you factor out the first 10 games we have gone backwards. You might not like it, i certainly don't, but this is the reality of our season.

How is it random to disect the season into the first half versus the second half and then dividing the first period in two? I'm hardly cherry picking stats am I. The first 10 games followed the turbulent summer period so surely highlighting the difference between those games and the next 10 is a perfect reasonable thing to do. And when you comapre the performance in the second batch of 10 games AP had got the team firing on all cylinders. However since then we have lost our way and we have declined. You cannot argue with FACTS.

Those figures point to a lack of progress. In our first 10 league games our record was WON 1 DREW 6 LOST 3. In others words poor but excuseable given the circumstances. The 10 games after this our record was superb - WON 7 DREW 2 LOST 1. Since then we've gone backwards and not progressed hence we've made up no ground on the play-off places.

Just done it myself and have us on 73 and huddersfield on 75 with one game left.... Colchester are out of it imo.

Todays result makes Pardews incompetent decisions yesterday worse. We should be 9 points behind with a game in hand.

But we're not progressing - that is the point.

It's not awful form, but it is statistically slightly less than static form.

But that situation is a two horse race and one variable is winning and the other losing. The situtaion we are dealing with is a 24 horse race.

How is fallacy to compare fact with fact? Fact we were 9 points of the play-offs on 5th Dec. Fact we are 11 points off the playoffs now.

You expectation pre season is one thing, but what was your realistic expectation on the 5th December? Have we exceeded it or have we fallen short?

It is fact. You might not like the truth but the results we have got since December have not progressed us. It's alright for you and others to give excuses about the pre season and the 10 point penalty - all valid, but i'm giving the REAL statistics for a period when these excuses stopped washing.

So i take it your are satisfied with our decline over the last 4 months? Because we are worse off than we were in december in terms of points so it is a decline.

I reckon it'll be sooner than that. In fact i'll be very surprised if NC hasn't got a replacement waiting for the close season.

What the table illustrates is that no progress has been made over the period highlighted. FACT.

I think what sums up the feeling is that Pardew isn't doing a bad job, but he isn't doing a good job. He's merely bumping along.

I'd have been happier, but at the end of the day a draw isn't a good enough result. It's a failure for a team with quality players like we have got. We have better players than Brighton so we should beat them. Simples, but a concept some on here will never get.

Us going to Brighton was like Man Utd coming to Southampton a few years back. We went to Brighton with one up front, would Fergie have done that with a Man U side playing at Southampton? Clearly he wouldn't have so on that basis Pardew got it wrong and he almost got the result he deserved - namely a defeat.

You don't play one up front with the strikers we've got sitting on the bench. Pardew is a ****ing clown to do that and last night it was crystal clear he got it wrong. But instead of changing it he was too stubborn to admit he got it wrong and change it until it was too late.
