Can we turn that desire to stay up into another win? I f*cking hope so!!!!!!
-
We've left everything far too late - changing manager, realising we need to start giving a shot (still question marks hanging over that one as to whether we realise) etc. As previous posters have said we've had one win in 21 games. That doesn't mean we can't get a few wins in the last games, but shows based on our level of play and determination/desire/guts that we have very little chance of changing our fortune. It's just so disappointing because every team below Burnley has been bang average, really. What an awful, awful season it has been. A long road to rebuild ahead of us. It will take a lot of time to get back to the levels we had under Kirman, if we ever do.

Do you want to see Portsmouth promoted? Be nice to get a decent atmosphere at a game again.

Two games against Chelsea, which is more important?

Cup win -
Win win for Hughes. Keep us up and be regarded as a tiny bit of a hero. Fail to stay relegation, which is currently very likely, he gave it his best shot and our cards were marked anyway. No damage done to his stock.

I thought this was a dream this morning, but having checked I'm pleased to confirm to myself it was indeed reality. Shame it's come so late, we haven't given ourselves much breathing space. Very tough but we can do it.

If you don't laugh, you'd cry. Clean slate next season and try to build up some positivity about the place for our Championship promotion push.

The definition of insanity is repeating exactly the same thing and expecting different results. Rudderless.

Failure to admit that we're on course to smash into an iceberg will be our undoing. We're too proud/scared/arrogant to think we're embroiled in a relegation battle. We're looking to be in a very bad way indeed. I do worry about our chances looking at the fixture list and seeing teams like Brighton and Huddersfield picking up good wins when we can barely scrape a goal from the barrel.

Rickie Lambert (Happy birthday). Did brilliantly at Brizzle Rovers and had a fair few clubs but best known for his brilliance at Saints!

For me the price is unrealistic considering what is being put on display in return. The gutless and heartless efforts cannot be abided by myself.

What a hit after some great play!

Team selection means bugger all if they've been told to retreat into their own box when they concede possession

Get the f*cker out of this club.

We have to get stuck in as fans and get behind the team. If we don't get a win it's not going to be looking promising. Never quit, but we'll be staring down the barrel if we can't secure all three points. A lovely attacking line up with Lemina, Romeu and Hojberg and Carrillo starting with Long on the bench

The thing is, players can't make the manager perform better. The whole premise of a manager is to make the players and team perform at their best.

Spot on.

And yet still losing. No one remembers the runners up mate.

We secured clean sheets all the way through to the final, without Fonte for a few of them I'm sure. I think to say "we would have won the cup" is completely unfounded and something you cannot say. Luck played a massive role in that cup final. If I decided to have chicken for dinner the evening prior, we would have won! Silly comment. On to Fonte. Great player for us throughout League One, the Championship and the PL. Has not been as good this season, partly due to his head being turned, partly because his legs are going. He moved for his family, because of money and security. Can't blame him. Can't blame Saints for not wanting to give him a long contract. The situation turned out to be the best for all concerned.

Great performance, no result. Rings too many bells. I am absolutely gutted. A brilliant opportunity for silverware slips through the floorboards. Well played boys, but it doesn't make it any easier to swallow.

Saints V Man United - EFL Cup Final Match Thread

Two defensive errors (Romeu and Davis) are only negatives. Sublime first half performance. Gabbiadini unlucky not to have two for us, but it wouldn't be saints without a sense of injustice and bad officiating, would it? -
Sadly a large bunch of our fans are disrespectful, lack any form of empathy and have no self awareness. They also don't possess any valid form of conscience so this behaviour would probably seem dependable from their perspective. Sorry to hear about your experiences. Sadly football for many is an excuse to be a c*ck. You can support the team and be passionate sat on your arse.
