  1. Voted for Unai Emery. In order of preference, based on those in the poll... 1 - Unai Emery 2 - André Villas-Boas 3 - Eddie Howe 4 - Frank De Boer 5 - Manuel Pellegrini 6 - David Moyes 7 - Quique Sanchez Flores
  2. Craig David at 200-1 with Betfair.
  3. Interesting that a shortlist was drawn up before the season ended, but I suppose Les has said he keeps these things ticking over. Emery would be ideal, if he's the club's #1 target and we can tempt him.
  4. Got to the last sixteen this season and then got knocked out by Benfica.
  5. Mirror: Eddie Howe not interested Southampton move - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/eddie-howe-ready-snub-chance-8121243 Howe doesn't want to leave Bournemouth: work in progress, club legend at AFCB and wouldn't get the same level of control here. Les is a big fan but Eddie has told people that coming to Saints doesn't appeal to him for those reasons.
  6. Adam Blackmore on Twitter: In midst of Koeman situation, worth #saintsfc fans remembering a number of players will be quite pleased to have a new coach

  8. @SolentSport: Talks between #saintsfc and #efc set to conclude tomorrow - we understand Southampton compensation figure they are looking for is around 5M
  9. @SimonPeach: If & when Koeman leaves, the futures of Mane, Wanyama & Co will come under increased scrutiny but not everyone will be unhappy at St Mary's @SimonPeach: Koeman can rub some people up the wrong way - Dusan Tadic, for example, is understood to have fallen out with him @SimonPeach: Few would argue Koeman leaving isn't a blow, but only need to look at Pochettino's exit to see #SaintsFC have wherewithal to recover
  10. @SimonPeach: Seems Koeman situation coming to a head - could be sorted tomorrow. Compensation figure #EFC would have to pay #SaintsFC is around £5million
  11. Odd timing, but in the last half hour or so Kelvin Davis has posted this on his social media.
  12. Emery held talks with Everton and West Ham recently and is widely-reported as wanting to come to the Prem. Neither of those two could offer guaranteed European football, let alone Europa League group stages with a club with three seasons of top eight finishes. This would be a good chance for him to come into a club that isn't in turmoil, has everything ready to go and European football on offer, and show the 'elite' of the Premier League what he can do, and that he is adaptable to the English game, at close quarters. If The Telegraph are to believed then Emery has been interested before and holds an interest, so let's see what happens.
  13. 'Why don't you come on over, Emery...!?' I'll see myself out.
  14. Liverpool Echo report that Emery has a €2m buy-out clause if we do want to sign him up... http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-waiting-emery-buyout-clause-11410241

  16. Yeah, I read that he's PSG's #2 or #3 choice if they can't get Simeone or someone else, name escapes me.
  17. Nice little watch if you wanted to learn more about Unai Emery.
  18. Well, while we wait to see what happens...

Sam Wallace - chief football writer for the Telegraph - with an update: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/04/ronald-koeman-agrees-to-become-everton-manager-as-southampton-tu/ - Koeman has agreed to go to Everton - Saints weren't prepare to get into a bidding war after hearing what Koeman was offered - Saints deny that Les Reed and Ronald Koeman had a rocky relationship - The club are now looking at Unai Emery and Eddie Howe as two leading candidates, among others

  21. Blackmore sharing that Koeman's agent has just been on Fox Sports in Holland to tell everyone Koeman's terms are sorted and he's ready to go to Everton.
  22. I did. But it was you who dismissed his achievements rather than just taking the approach of 'I don't think trophies matter' from the off. We'll see what happens. I think he's well-suited to us, people learn and he's still not even 40.
  23. Which begs the question, why were you bringing up trophies then? Yes, I think AVB can be a bit *****ly sometimes but I'll leave that up to Les and co to decide. I think he's got a good CV and would be an interesting appointment.
  24. You can say exactly the same about Koeman's managerial career as you have in that top line. Only one trophy outside of Holland/Portugal and that was the Spanish Cup with Valencia, who then sacked him because they nearly went down. He hasn't won anything in England yet, either.
  25. Equally... What do people see as the attraction with Pochettino? I think he would be quite a risk. He's never managed in the PL, can rub people up the wrong way and got sacked with his team bottom of La Liga. or... What do people see as the attraction with Koeman? I think he would be quite a risk. Hasn't been successful everywhere he's been, been sacked a couple of times and can rub people up the wrong way. Plays more direct football than Pochettino. Swings and roundabouts.
