  1. As posted by @RhysTheSaint on Twitter...
  2. What a moment for Martial! Surely the end of Roberto Martinez's spell at Everton?
  3. Goals: Tadić x2, Long, Mané. Liverpool drop two points after throwing away a two-goal lead at home against Newcastle. Go...
  4. SAINTS: Forster; Cédric, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand; Wanyama; Romeu, S. Davis; Tadić; Long, Rodriguez.
  5. Found dead at the age of 57. There goes another one in 2016...
  6. Interesting piece that nicely summarises Shane's role and status at Saints with the use of some good statistics. https://www.whoscored.com/Articles/hggcta1qxew_3cazzxq_8g/Show/Long-Lacks-Star-Quality-But-Remains-Key-Saints-Regular Thoughts on where he stands at current and as we look to improve? I have to confess to not being too impressed when we signed him and although he's never a £12m finisher he's a mightily-good pain in the arse and a handy team player. The article summarises it nicely.
  7. Made me laugh when I first saw her perform it and still cracks me up.
  8. It's an interesting idea. Part of my studies at university have been focused on homosexuality in sport and how it's perceived/managed. One conclusion was that there are plenty of top brands and willing sponsors who would absolutely love to have the first high-profile gay footballer on their books. Attitudes are shifting, or at very least what these companies 'think' their attitude should be, as shown with Pacquiao getting dropped for his comments about gay people for one example.
  9. So, a little project that I worked on alongside a couple of other good folk who are name-checked in the piece... We managed to set up an interview with Marians (now managing Latvia's senior team) and as soon as he was told that there were Saints fans who wanted to put together a piece and send him a bunch of questions from other Saints fans, he was more than willing to get involved. What came across throughout setting this up was how enthusiastic he still is about Saints, how he still follows the club and how fondly he remembers his time over here. Anyway, we picked out 12 of our favourite questions of the many that were submitted via social media last week and put them to Marians. Here's the audio of Marians recapping his time with Southampton and talking about various things: Hope people find it interesting...! If you get a chance, listen to the audio as it gives you a better idea about 'how' he answered and the written version has been slightly edited. Here's a written version, additionally: http://stmarysmusings.sbnation.com/2016/4/17/11437894/askpahars-marians-pahars-answers-fans-questions Big thanks to Marians and of course for the Latvian Football Federation for getting involved and being so cooperative.
  10. José is fine, as is Victor. Perhaps worryingly, José says he doesn't even remember walking off the pitch at Goodison or what actually happened. Good job he came off.
  11. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/sadio-manes-family-escape-death-7767573 Glad to hear nobody got hurt but must be pretty devastating for him all the same. He did seem a bit muted when he scored but I didn't know if that was due to the fact we were a goal down at the time or not. Maybe this is why.
  12. José Fonte has gone to hospital with a head problem.
  13. Ronald speaking to Radio Solent: https://audioboom.com/boos/4441122-reaction-saintsfc-boss-ronald-koeman-with-bigadamsport-after-1-1-draw-at-efc
  14. Still not notched up another win at Goodison... - Everton without a handful of key men - Saints dominated the game - Hit the woodwork twice - Went a goal down due to Funes Mori - Sadio pulled one back to level it Big chance missed, in my book. Go...
  15. Ronald said he twisted his knee in the Newcastle warm-up on the turf at St. Mary's and he will probably be absent for another week. Not any ligament damage involved.
  16. SAINTS: Forster; Martina, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand; Clasie, Wanyama; Long, Mané, Tadić; Pellè. Bench: Stekelenburg, Cédric, Yoshida, Romeu, S. Davis, Ward-Prowse, Rodriguez. No Ross Barkley or Romelu Lukaku in the starting line-up for Everton.
  17. Sunderland lead 1-0 at Carrow Road after 41 mins. Borini scored the penalty.
  18. Bloody hell, the standard of this game is absolutely awful. Just both teams hooking aimless high balls or simply ****ting it straight out of play from their own back line with a long ball attempt. No composure at all.

  20. Ronald says that Charlie Austin is injured and won't be involved against Everton. Charlie twisted his knee in the warm-up at St. Mary's last weekend. No ligament damage so hopefully just a week or so out. Steven Davis is available for selection again.
  21. For a while, I'd say yes. Confirmation of the announcement and the fact it's about far more than kit, and doesn't actually help users in the kit speculation thread much at all.
