the second underpayment (£600 odd) was due to a company car not being noted on their system - despite me calling them and telling them! what's the point, if they're just going to ignore you

Have called the HMRC and they were really helpful actually. One of the underpayments was due to an error within the HR department of a previous employer - where I changed companies part way through a tax year, the HR dept didnt use previous income earned and I got duplicate allowances. HMRC said to contact the previous company to fight it with them.... done! the other bits I didn't really understand and will look into later. either way, Im sure Im gonna have to pay it all... what is it they say? 2 things are guaranteed.... death and taxes....

Anyone had one of these? I got mine yesterday, for 07/08 & 08/09. It says I've underpaid tax by £1300. Not sure how, because my tax code was lower due to having a company car, and only now is it back to normal due to no longer having the car. Is there any way/point contesting this?
