The real reason that we sacrificed the cups...

The "Don" as you put it will I think work with AC Milan. -
Middlesbrough is a good shout but probably a long term declining club to certain level, as it stand we are probably bigger than them due to population shift, they are getting smaller to be blunt. Sunderland have very very good loyal fans but even they were troubled in the 80's with very low averages.

We had an opportunity and did not fully take it by not fielding our strongest side. Would you disagree with this?

Ludicrous team selection. Utter madness.

I dont believe in the club, you can count me in on that, I dont believe we could or can ever achieve Champions League football without huge investement, I dont believe for a moment some of our players will all be here at the start of next season, I dont believe Leibherr wants to be here, nor Pochettino now either, they are my opinions without proof or fact but this is a forum. -
So finishing above Man U is more important than silverware?

Christ alive that will pass, all era's do, silverware is permanent. -

If I wrote this I would be had up for trolling as there is no proof, hypocrisy at its finest. -
I would say we are larger than Stoke and Norwich similar, they have won two League Cups though so maybe a bit more successful? Closest though probably.

It was not our best XI so we did not give it 100%, why give it 100% in a League we can not win? -

Sunderland have done well to get to the Final of the League Cup, the only things that are certain are weplayed truly awful and we did not field our best side. -
Wes can you stick to the thread please, if you are not going to contribute anything once again please dont post.

All well and good but the club and its fans have memories of actually winning and being successful.

Why was he on the bench then and not an extra in greys anatomy? -
Only 5th offers a guaranteed Europa Cup place, why not try it by winning the FA Cup.
-
Of course but thats another issue of responsible spending, the fact remains rightly or wrongly they won the Cup or bought it, others do it but again thats another issue, this centres on what club the size of ours has won so little, my answer is I can not think of any.
-
They are smaller than us (have been for the last 30/40 years) but more successful.
-
I want us to try 100% to achieve a trophy, there is a huge difference.
-
Wolves are probably bigger than us and have won more, Birmingham and Stoke smaller.

Pray tell young Nick what glory has been bestowed upon the Saints fans? Have I missed some chest full of coin and Cup? Glory? -
No Wes thats your stock answer to everything you dont like to read, why did you bother coming on here to write that? Dont post on this thread please if you are going to contribute nothing.

We are probably between the 15th and 25th largest club in England depending on lots of factors, we are no where near that in the table for medals won. This is subject to debate but what I feel not is is the fact we have won so little for our size and when the opportunity presents itself to possibly win one we should always take it with both hands, taking 50,000-55,000 approx (an unofficial record for one clubs attendance) to the JPT says an awful lot of how this club craves success. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_clubs_in_England_by_major_honours_won
