  1. The shame is all yours if that is truly how you feel. Not so much Dicko as Dickhead.
  2. Norwich Union to shed jobs: http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/banking_and_finance/article6022520.ece
  3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7978186.stm
  4. If what you want is an inspiring person who commited themselves to raising awareness for cancer charities, why not put up a statue to Jane Tomlinson ? Far more worthy, IMO. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2585103.stm http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/after-raising-pound175m-jane-tomlinson-dies-of-cancer-aged-43-401410.html etc
  5. What will it say on the plaque ? "Jade Goody - ignorant, gobs1te, role model for chavs everywhere"
  6. So the current SLH / PLC arrangement was not created to make the reverse takeover possible ? Instead, Rupert was putting in place an administrative coup de main that ensured when he came back for his second tenure, ( 'the lunatic taking over the asylum ?' ), and we crashed and burned, we could wriggle out of League rules that at that point did not even exist. Now that IS visionary !
  7. Old IT industry proverb : Never over estimate the 'intelligence' of your user population.
  8. Well, being a Greek / Danish / German hybrid, the English language is obviously a problem for him
  9. WinXP has a default system administration account called, funnily enough, 'Administrator', and the password is also 'Administrator'. However, if you create your own user account with admin privilege, which most home PCs ask you to do at first switch-on, the built-in system one is no longer available from the normal login screen. To access this account press F8 as Windows is loading and select 'Safe Mode'. Then when the login box is displayed, you can enter the default administrator credentials. From there you should be able to open Control Panel and edit any account you have forgotten the p/w for.
  10. In the small talk when they first met, the Queen and the Prince were sympathising with the President and his wife about their gruelling schedule since arriving late on Tuesday evening. "The time lag," said the Queen, ever the diplomat. "You're just trying to stay awake!" said Philip, ever the foot-in-mouth blunderer. Then the President told the Royals: "I had breakfast with the Prime Minister, I had meetings with the Chinese, the Russians, David Cameron... "And I'm proud to say I did not nod off in one of the meetings." A guffawing Prince Philip then blurted out: "Can you tell the difference between them?" "
  11. This all smacks of Blackadder - "I have a cunning plan".
  12. Never suffered from molluscs attacking my grapes or toms, though they do sometimes have a go at the strawbs. My advice is to use sharp sand or straw around the plants, particularly strawbs when the start fruiting, and to encourage as many birds ( feathered ! ) into the garden as possible. You could also try guiness traps, or plant a Hosta - they are slug magnets and will keep them off everything else, little b4stards.
  13. What, he told you to sit back at put your feet up for 4 years ?
  14. That's not a plum tree, that's a Laurel
  15. In which case sit back, put your feet up, and wait for about 4 years. The other key thing with plum trees is to regularly prune them, or you will find that the fruit is there, but out of reach.
  16. Are those the ones where you pass if spell your name correctly ?
  17. Are they the same variety ? Are they self-fertile ? If not, do they flower at the same time ? If all three answers are no, then unless there are others planted nearby, you might not get anything. Also, they can take up to 4 years to start fruiting.
  18. Not being a 'whizzkid', but on trying to rationalise the intricacies of the SLH / PLC arrangement and it's relationship to points deductions; Whilst it may be smoke and mirrors financially, surely the FL can only deal with, and respond to, the football club, as that is it's member organisation, and any deduction has to be based on the viability of that entity. As far as I can see, those PLC clubs that have had deductions have suffered because the PLC / club itself became insolvent, such as Leeds. Don't bite my head off if I am wrong.
  19. If we finish above the relegation places it will be automatically enforced against this year's final table. If we don't it goes onto the start of next season.
  20. If it is an April Fool, then I think there's a goin' to be a lyncin' when the perp is outed.
  21. I will cry if it is true
  22. http://criswarren.blogspot.com/2007/04/more-urban-myths.html As long as you put 'True Story' at the start of whatever rubbish you want to print, somebody will believe it
  23. I did not avoid your question, though the fact that the entire posting was replaced between readings did throw me As I hope my response implied, if I am a traditional 'conservative', ( and I deliberately use the lowercase 'c' ), then it is up to the Tories to return to their 'traditional' perspective, at which point they give themselves a chance. I do not, however, believe that either the current Conservative party, nor Labour, can lay claim to the heritage outlined in your epistle.
  24. The Labour party nicking Tory policies- where have we seen that before ? So, when the Tory party come up with a manifesto that matches the ideals they seem to have held previously, but now seem to have forsaken, they may well earn my vote
