I can't make it this week.
-
Looks like seven so far and there's often people who turn up without posting on here. But I'd not be too happy about setting off without knowing there was going to be at least 4-a-side

Not exactly in disagreement with you - just pointing out that there will be some people like that who for such reasons might be keener than the average punter on Auto Trader looking for an estate to cart the dog around in.
-
Anyone fancy playing this Sunday? Should be light for about half an hour longer than last time.
-
Sort of, but as Stu's is a V5 with a few extras, it can appeal to Golf geeks who need the practicality of an estate but still want a bit of power. You do see a few estates on owners forums and the V5 is quite rare especially as an estate - even more so if it's the later 170bhp version, so might be worth a post on http://uk-mkivs.net/ and http://www.golfv5.co.uk/ . If you just want to shift it quick, then as others have said stick with Auto Trader.

Good point. Sunset should be about 15 mins later than last week, so probably need to wait a couple more weeks? If people go by the weather forecast then we might not have the numbers for it anyway.
-
Anyone for this weekend, or are we assuming the cold/ice/snow will be too severe?
-
I suspect so. However I also suspect - without any evidence whatsoever mind - that there are increasing numbers of people working from home, small companies using consumer broadband for business, geeks wanting to run servers from home, people wanting to monitor CCTV remotely etc, for whom these considerations influence their choice.

Three times I have switched provider because I was moving house/flat to somewhere where my existing provider wasn't available, eg moving to/from BT/cable areas or from a ADSL2+ enabled exchange to one that isn't. I've never switched broadband provider without it being part of a move to a new place, either because I can't be bothered with the hassle or because I don't trust them not to balls it up and leave me without a connection for days. - whether or not you get a static IP address - how many IP addresses can you have allocated to your connection? - if you move office/home can you keep the IP addresses or are they tied to a particular exchange? - ease of administration, eg can you maintain multiple broadband accounts for different locations and pay and print associated invoices all from a single control panel? - upstream bandwidth - I know you mentioned "speed" already, but the majority of advertising is about the download speeds, however a poor upload speed can be significant enough for some people to prefer a competitor with a better upload speed despite a slower download speed. The above are all factors which I or people I've worked with have had to consider over the last 5 years.

Any decent hardware firewall should also enable you to set up rules to that effect.

HGVs over 7.5 tonnes are already banned from the outside lane, so that's probably why you hadn't noticed. Anything that reduces the number of mobile roadblocks on the A34 has got to be good though.

بالتأكيد (That's 'Egyptian' for "definitely")

I've got a Nuvi 255WT and do prefer it to the TomToms I'd borrowed before that. My Mrs doesn't seem to have any problems with the Garmin either.

The LNB is probably covered in snow. If you can reach it with a brush or broom then you should be able to sweep the snow off of it and get your signal back. Either that or sit and wait and hope the snow melts or blows away. Fortunately for me our dish is within arm's reach of a window.
-
You're not the only one. It's littered with abandoned cars round here and still snowing. I went out for a walk and one driver I let use my mobile said they'd been in traffic on Hamble Lane for an hour and a half without getting as far as Tesco. And snow on my satellite dish ruined some recordings before I noticed. Doh.

Severe Weather Warning for Southampton / Hampshire

Same here in Bursledon, looks like it's just stopped. Settled about 10-15cm. -
I've also found Panda in Beford Place to be good although haven't been there for a while. Why don't you order several different dishes between you, stick them in the middle of the table and share them out? No need for "my dish" and "your dish" then, unless your friends can't be trusted not to take the ****.
-
Sorry I've just moved house and got lots to get sorted so no time for this, should be back in a week or two if it's on.
-
Good game played in the right spirit though. Keep it up, looks like you've got the makings of a good team for your age group.
-
And then Granty did a different team again last year. It was **** and folded.

x2 It's hard enough in the lowest leagues to get a ref when you are paying them, and the players have the deterrent of fines and suspensions. I'd be shocked if you can get a ref for a friendly for free unless they already owe you a favour.
-
You've got me on Facebook if you want another on the list for the 11-a-side. Hope the charity thing today went well.
