  1. Two of GON’s former clubs looking for a manager now in Boro and Norwich, surely he ends up at one of them. Martin also in with a good shout of the Norwich job, not sure they’d grumble much at Farke returning either.
  2. He was telling this forum we’d spoken to Nathan Jones months before Ralph had even gone, and has definitely had inside info on a lot of stuff over the years. Not always on the money but definitely got some info.
  3. Heard from opposite end of ground
  4. The one that has called numerous things correct over the years on here way before they happened
  5. I think this is really, really important. People keep trying to justify managers who have managed at struggling PL clubs - that may be useful if we get there but we need someone who can get us there. Will Still managed scared, he was used to trying to punch above weight. We need a manager who can deal with the expectation of winning games, because that’s what we need to be setting up to do in this division - teams aren’t coming here to dominate us, they expect to be dominated.
  6. It’s not just because he hasn’t played for Pompey, it’s because O’Neill is crap - Eckert might be too but we don’t know it yet so i’d gamble on him before I picked O’Neill. But as I said, we absolutely should not be appointing either of them.
  7. I don’t want either to get the job but I would pick Eckert over O’Neill. I know O’Neill isn’t very good, I don’t know that Eckert isn’t yet - he also doesn’t appear to be a complete wanker and someone who is loved by our biggest rival.
  8. It’s alright to compare to Redknapp and Crouch, but both of those were proven quality prior to their arrival - okay it didn’t work out with Harry but he was a credible, quality manager. O’Neill is not. All signs so far are that he is at best very, very average - couple that with being a Pompey legend, why would anyone want him? People talk about our fans being apathetic, so I thought it was great that they made their disproval heard today. Fuck Gary O’Neill.
  9. Vieira has barely lasted more than a year in any job he’s been in, and has a repeated history of long periods without winning a game. Not sure he has any more credibility as a manager than O’Neill or Carrick.
  10. Maybe this is all to make us grateful for the more obscure name that is coming instead - we’ll take whoever isn’t GON
  11. I seem to remember Paul Hart being strongly rumoured to take over after Pardew and the JPT game that took place that night was basically one big anti-Hart parade and they went for Adkins. Maybe similar could happen tomorrow towards O’Neill, but expect there’s not enough life left in the fan base to bother at this point.
  12. Yeah I remember reading that too tbf - so he’s a skate, a crap manager, and a bit of a twat as well. What could go wrong..
  13. Maybe Boro will swoop in and snatch O’Neill from us now that Edwards is off to Wolves - played over 100 games there so here’s hoping!
  14. Which would be absolutely no use to us in this league
  15. People seemed to be saying every year since he joined that his legs had gone, yet when he left we fell apart and he ended up at Barcelona haha, madness. He could play with one leg and he’d be good in this league.
  16. Without being pedantic we’ve done that twice in recent times for Jones and Martin, so I don’t think it’s something the club are against if it’s necessary
  17. SR initials 👀
  18. Naturally some questions around his fitness/mobility but people forget, much as I think they did when he was here previously, that Romeu is a fantastic player on the ball too. A player with his intelligence, first touch and reading of the game should still have plenty of life left in him. I know we loved his blood and guts style but he is a real classy operator too.
  19. His decline only has to have been slightly slower than our own in order to still look like a world beater
  20. Could be considered a cynical attempt at appeasing a restless fanbase by Sport Republic. Consider me appeased.
  21. I agree he doesn’t look very high intensity, but it doesn’t always mean someone’s not trying. I remember a few years back when Arsenal had Özil and Sanchez in their team; Sanchez was seen as all energy and effort and Özil was ‘lazy’, but would frequently dwarf Sanchez when it came to distance covered stats during the game. I also think a player low on confidence is more likely to hide and not put himself about as much as he doesn’t want to do anything wrong. Might be giving Downs more credit than he deserves but I do find it hard to believe he can’t be better than what we’ve seen.
  22. Tbh with the physical characteristics of the squad we have, something closer to Russball is probably most likely to get results - no chance we succeed with a long ball/direct manager. Not saying it should be RM, I really can’t see it will be, but stylistically we’d be better off for sure.
  23. I do think it’s very difficult to judge him at this point as i’m not sure there’s a single shred of confidence left in him. It’ll be interesting how a new manager utilises him, if at all. Unless it’s accepted in the club that he really is crap, I can’t see we have much to lose by starting him and seeing if he can play his way into some confidence/form. Imagine being a young lad with no confidence and getting chucked on into that mess on Saturday.

We’ve been good for about 3 different halves of football all season, it’s never worked
