Some credit to our scouting department for once.

It's fair to say that we've had a fair few fails in the scouting department in recent years, but I think its time to to give them some credit, obviously Danny Ings has been a great signing so far, but Djenepo looks like a potential gem and Armstrong has proved to be quite the bargain.

Just to put some in perspective, Villa have spent £143 million on transfers this year. Our starting 11 yesterday that played them off the park cost around £85 million.

Most of that went on Mings, Wesley, Targett, Heaton and Luiz

Mings has an England call up and looks generally solid (few injuries)

Wesley scored a few early on then v bad injury

Heaton injured

Luiz has looked very good in some games, young player with potential

Targett is solid enough for £11m (that’s probably the equivalent of £2m a few years ago)

The rest have been fairly modest (£5m) gambles which they’ll likely recover when sold on

Dont get the hype around Mings. Ever present in the worst defence in the league. Was all the over the show yesterday and if it wasnt for Reina it could have been embarassing
