Jillyanne Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 My mum has a 1.1 Corsa that will not start. When she turns the key, the dash lights come on fully and she can turn the headlights etc on (not dull). The car just will not start, when she turns the ignition to start the car it just clicks. Any advice gratefully appreciated. Oh - it's a P Reg.

swannymere Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Solenoid on the starter motor has gone, probably easiest to replace the whole unit. They are available through EuroCarParts from £48.03 (not sure if it includes VAT!) It should be easy enough to fit, probably 1 hrs. labour at the most. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Vauxhall_Corsa_1.2_1996/p/Car-Parts/Electrical-and-Lighting/Electrical/Starter-Motors Oh by the way, no such thing as a 1.1l in 1996, so i guessed it was the 1.2. Whitey Grandad Posted 14 October, 2010 Share Posted 14 October, 2010 Do the lights dim when she tries to start? If so, the battery may be too weak. Check the earth/chassis strap on the battery, and the other connection whilst you're looking at it. Try to borrow a battery and jump leads and try that. Don't use jump leads from a battery in another car, you could damage its alternator.
