Red And White Barmy Army Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 don't know but the bit on there about the guy who went to coach in asia and australia is v interesting also. why did we let him go ffs? 1 of the only ppl we had at the club that still believed we would win matches when we went a goal or three behind. SuperMikey Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 I think CMFG has his coaching badges, but not sure if he's putting them into practice or not. Possible coaching role at SFC?

opthomps Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 Poor choice to come and live for an ex prem footballer I would say. Even Lineker had a mare in Japan, albeit mainly due to injuries. I don't know why they do it.
exit2 Posted 16 January, 2011 Share Posted 16 January, 2011 Mazz is currently living in Murcia in Spain, where he is enjoying life and doing a bit of building / property developement. After he quit football here in the UK the whole family moved to Cyprus, they then sold up and moved to Spain where also they had property. When his stay at SMS was bacially over through Dean Richards agent he was offered moves to Korea and Russia who were trying very much to get ex prem players there, the Korea move paid lots of $$$$$ so this after a vist for a week where they were treated like Royality they decided on that move, but as the article says the family didnt suit the life style. I still speak to Maz and he always looks out for our results and of course his beloved Sheffield United!

saint84 Posted 18 January, 2011 Share Posted 18 January, 2011 Chris Marsden true Saints legend! I was one of the 1st people to show support for Chris and in the early days got laughed at and often told that he wasn't even good enough for the championship, then all of a sudden the support grew for him and rightly so he turned many games from being a loss or a draw to a draw or a win. I even had a flag with CMFG on it. Would love him to come back to Saints one day as a coach or something, maybe in years to come to team up once again with Wayne Bridge... His goal against Ipswich were he ran the length of the pitch, all the way into the box, only to scuff his shot.....and still score will live long in the memory! That and his overhead flick v Wolves. BadgerBadger Posted 18 January, 2011 Share Posted 18 January, 2011 His link up with Wayne Bridge was a pleasure to watch and went a fair way to why we did so well under Strachan, just goes to show what can be achieved when players gel

Black Sea Saint Posted 19 January, 2011 Share Posted 19 January, 2011 An interesting read for someone living in Korea. I'm surprised to hear that his family couldn't settle, it's a very Westernised culture, and is a very easy country to live in.

That and his overhead flick v Wolves. nowt like embelishing the story.... he cut in from the left flank about 40-45 yards out, mazy run round the keeper and slotted it in, but an awesome goal all the same him and bridgey were awesome together. whoever came up with chrissy marsden football genius is themselves a genius. saw an interview on him on sky once during the 2003 season, very down to earth, pinching himself at the level he was playing, how much he loved the club, then cut back to rodney marsh in the studio who just panned him. called him the most boring man on the planet. fookin hated marsh ever since, so glad he aint on tv anymore

Not sure if I can definitely claim it but me and my mate used to have a silly competition on who could get the most amount of letters into the Thursday Saints mailbag in the Echo and then see how many people thought we were mad and commented on our letter (I won) but on one of the letters I wrote that Chris Marsden was a football genius and it stole the headline accross the 2 pages of the Echo and then weeks later the Saints were selling official CMFG tee shirts....
