Rut Posted 25 April, 2011 Posted 25 April, 2011 Can anyone recommend some free video editing software? What is the video equivalent of Audacity (that is excellent for music). ie something that lets you split video files, join them together etc.
badgerx16 Posted 25 April, 2011 Posted 25 April, 2011 Depends on how complex you want things to be, a good start might be Avidemux : http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/

Mainly just want to script out some short clips from longer videos. Then join these short clips to make a 'best of' one. Well I assume this isn't seen as being complex anyway! I know there's a lot of stuff out there to do this sort of thing but was looking for some recommendations. Thanks - will try out Avidemux.
Saint_clark Posted 25 April, 2011 Posted 25 April, 2011 Nothing wrong with windows media player...unless you're on a mac of course.

Click where you want the edit to start/end & hit save. Simple. Then 'append file' to join them together. Worked a treat. Whilst I'm asking about video's anyone got any good advice about how to shrink the size of an .avi file? ie how/what to convert it to? (I don't mind losing a bit of quality).
