Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2011 Share Posted 28 April, 2011 These are the teams we need to be cheering on Saturday. The first two are a given, but the battle at the bottom of the table could be just as important. As it stands the bottom looks like: Walsall - 45 points --------------------- D and R - 44 Rovers - 44 Plymouth - 42 Swindon - Gone Fixtures on Saturday are: Exeter vs Plymouth Daggers vs Carlisle Rovers vs Owls Walsall vs Charlton If Walsall were to win and the others lose, they would be mathematically safe from everyone bar Plymouth. This would force Plymouth to go all out for a win on Monday (6 point behind, with 2 games left, better GD), which should work in our favour. If we were to get a draw, Walsall would be guaranteed safety going into the final game (and might be very greatful ) All hypothetical, but something to consider. Jez Posted 28 April, 2011 Share Posted 28 April, 2011 So if Plymouth beat Exeter and they were 3 points from safety instead of 6, they still wouldn't go all out for a win? Surely their result against Exeter is irrelevant (other results dependant)
Pat from Poole Posted 28 April, 2011 Share Posted 28 April, 2011 Plymouth's last game is home to Orient, I believe, who could still be going for the play-offs. Plymouth have 3 meaty games left. Exeter are desperate to thrash them on Saturday, I can see that being a pretty volatile game.

Surely their result against Exeter is irrelevant (other results dependant) If they're 3 points off safety with a game in hand they will have real belief. If they're 6 off, with a very tiny chance of success, they will be desperate. I'd rather face the latter.
saints-cris Posted 28 April, 2011 Share Posted 28 April, 2011 I want to face a Plymouth side who NEED to win. Means they'll have to come at us at some point! But Id also like the job to be all but done by the time we play them!
