Roger Posted 30 April, 2011 Share Posted 30 April, 2011 For me he is our best centre midfielder. The way he dominated manure's midfield underlined this. Also the swindon game where is was 1-1 then we brought him on and won 4-1 was too. Okay he doesnt score enough goals but he is our claude makele with a better range of passing, at a lower level and im not suggesting he is as good as him. However, do you think nigel will put him back in once he is fully fit? Dpoes he see him as first choice. Our record without him has been very good but you feel this is despite the centre midfield being relatively poor. For me until brighton chaplow had been v poor for 2 months and hammond was okay. Opinions? Agreed. Although he divides opinions on here for my money Morgan is the nearest thing we have to a 'playmaker' and lets face it, a little more creativity from midfield would not go amiss. Golden Balls Posted 30 April, 2011 Share Posted 30 April, 2011 I think the centre works very well with Morgan and Chaplow. Chaplow seems to play a lot better with Morgan.
Julian H. Cope Posted 30 April, 2011 Share Posted 30 April, 2011 Morgan I guess divides opinions more than any other. According to the 3 people (if you can call them people, mutants would seem a better fit) who sit behind me in the Kingsland he is the worst player ever to have pulled on a Saints shirt and a baby eating rapist to boot. Results seem to suggest that we have not missed him (credit to Adkins for that) but he is a massive plus in the centre when he plays. I'm his greatest advocate & hopefully we'll be able to secure his services for next season and beyond.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 30 April, 2011 Share Posted 30 April, 2011 It's an interesting question. I believe that in L1 he is not particularly suited to the slogging style of some teams - he will be much better suited to many game situations in the NPC and so I think there he will shine more. I also think he and Chaplow should be the dominant CM partnership, however I cannot see Hammond getting dropped all the while he is Captain. It's a bit of a dilemna left over from Pardew's days and needs to be sorted out because although Hammond is far from a poor player, he is not showing enough class to thrive in the NPC and beyond.
