View From The Top Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 My Doris has declared that she wants a tablet, but not a ipad. Any recommendations and what should I be looking at for?
mdearlove Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 How much do you want to spend? Only real alternative to an iPad is a Android tablet but they range from £50 up to £550. Depends what she wants to do with it. My wife has an Asus EeePad Transformer and loves it - you can buy it with a keyboard that the tablet docks into making it convertible from a table to more of a netbook. There is a new version about to be released but you are looking at £550 with the keyboard. The old one can be bought for around £300, maybe less if you keep your eye out on hotukdeals.com This is pretty decent if you don't mind going the refurb route - saves a lot of money: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-galaxy-tab-16gb-10-1-tablet-10-1-ebay-digigood-269-98-refurbished-1091377
Turkish Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 IPAD all day mate. Nothing comes close. I tried to hate them but having played around with the others got to admit it is streets ahead of anything else on the market.

View From The Top Posted 15 December, 2011 Author Share Posted 15 December, 2011 It's to replace a netbook. £350(ish) budget.
Block 5 Posted 15 December, 2011 Share Posted 15 December, 2011 I have an Acer Iconia A500. About £300 ish. I'd recommend it. Mobile internet or just Wi-Fi? That will affect price.

mdearlove Posted 16 December, 2011 Share Posted 16 December, 2011 if you have £350 get the transformer - you can probably find it with the keyboard dock for that price as the newer version is coming out. Asus are readying an update to Android 4.0 too so you will get the latest and greatest pretty quickly.

Ewell Posted 17 December, 2011 Share Posted 17 December, 2011 I won a samsung galaxy 10.1 in the work raffle the other day. Not bad for a £10 outlay. Not used it yet but I am reliably told by a lot of people whose opinion I trust that they **** all over the IPAD.
