Suhari Posted 30 August, 2013 Share Posted 30 August, 2013 Picking up the new car in about 2 weeks. No doubt the BMW sales guy will try to get me to buy their paint/interior protection treatment; have always felt this is a massive rip off. Audi charge about £450.. Looking for views on whether it is worth getting some kind of protection done, and what I should pay? Could I do an equivalent job with the Autoglym stuff you use at home? Could I get something done via 3rd party?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 30 August, 2013 Share Posted 30 August, 2013 Try negotiating on the price, costs to them is about £30-70 so they have margin and I talked them down from £400 to £155 last time i purchased a new car. This was a few years back and i would question If newer modern car paints even need 'protection'?
spyinthesky Posted 1 September, 2013 Share Posted 1 September, 2013 Talking to someone the other day about 'Detailing', something used to protect top of the range cars Apparently, if done correctly, is far better than the paint protection offered by dealers Not sure what the cost is though
spyinthesky Posted 3 September, 2013 Share Posted 3 September, 2013 You don't need to protect the paint. Just look after it. Put Permanon on. Can you but this direct from Permanon? Isn't it very expensive and you have to ensure the preparation is correct before the stuff is applied?
