Anyone on here been to Antwerp before?

 

Would it be a suitable city for a lads weekend away?

 

Due to it being close and relatively cheap to get to we thought we'd give it a go.

Went there with the other half but would defo go with the boys. Plenty of bars in the main square, and some good ones along the sea front (one to go in when hammered is the one with an old fashioned mechanical organ (think bagpuss mechanical organ!)that plays classics on the reels and then loads of themed bars liks salsa etc. There is then the rather large red light area (little Amsterdam) if the boys are so inclined.

 

You can get fairly cheep trips there on Eurostar (change at Brussels), or if you want to stack up on booze it's about 1.5 hours from Dieppe by car.

 

Don't tell your other halves where you are going though as they will expect you to come back with diamonds as it's the diamond capital of Europe (really cheap compared to the UK).

Chocolate! Great chocolate! Some interesting boutique fashion shops and excellent beer, although they serve the local draught far too fizzy and cold and it was better when served as a real ale in Wetherspoons once! There was a beer festival when I was visiting, but as I was ill I couldn't partake.. looked interesting though. Can't help on the red-light district, and have no money for diamonds, but it's got an interesting central station:
