Baby bro is looking forward to this. The last Mortal Kombat game was very good, too.

Must admit I'm not a huge beat 'em up fan. Happy to admit this may mostly be due to me being utterly useless at them. It always, always just descends into button bashing.

Depends on the person and amount of free time, I reckon.

I didn't spend four months in 1997 poring over printouts of Tekken 2 move-lists just to button-bash :)

Remember people gathering round the MK cabinet in arcades to see someone complete a fatality combo, usually Sub Zero's.

Ahh fun times.

Mortal Kombat, the first arcade game was legendary IMO

The first game was throwaway.

The series really came into its own on II, I reckon, just like StreetFighter.

MKII on the SNES was the first year University game of choice.

Agreed! MKII on SNES was brilliant. The last MK game was fantastic, also, a true return to form. Really looking forward to this.
