Give it to Ron Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 I have read a couple of posts today that people believe there is a bad atmosphere in the ground. I have missed one league home game this year due to illness and have not witnessed this at all until we are well beaten or showing as though we have given up like Forest. Before the game and when it the game is under way I have not heard any dissent at all - there have been 3 games where I have heard the Lowe out chants - the first game it got shouted down then Forest and Saturday it all boiled over. Reading, Sheff Wednesday were very good and full support IMO. I sit in Kingsland North block 34 and its good around there if its bad perhaps we need to highlight the areas and help people to enjoy their matchday experience more? Or are some fans using this as an excuse to direct the attention away from the real problems...shocking manager, poor tactics, no gameplan, lack of scoring, lacking in quality in the squad, cheap options? Funnily enough I've just had the very same conversation with a friend on the phone. I find it quite insulting when Jan is on the radio saying "how do you expect us to perform when you criticise the boys" well I agree with you mate, i think the support has been great, to be honest i've been amazed that the fans have stuck with the team/manager for so long. 1 win in 14 home games is disgraceful! eelpie Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 There hasn't been a bad atmosphere in the ground, until Saturday. Sure there has been a lot of frustration, but generally the fans have been heroic, and have readily applauded the passing skills shown by the youngsters in the belief that they would come good as the season progressed. And JP had been given the benefit of the doubt, even though deep down we knew he was tactically inept and it wasn't working as it should be. We are where we are now because of all the reasons voiced very strongly everywhere. But do not blame the atmosphere at the ground before the Donny match. We fans have been positive and supportive. Sadly, in vain. We are all going to be dubbed the lunatic fringe anyway.
St Marco Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 As i've said before people trying to blame the fans for our situation is complete an utter rubbish. As you say Ron it is just an excuse by people to try and deflect from the current goings on at the club. The Doncaster game is basically the catalyst for having sat suffering in silence since having avoided relegation last year. It was going to happen eventually. um pahars Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 As i've said before people trying to blame the fans for our situation is complete an utter rubbish. I wouldn't be at all surprised if some use it in an attempt to divert attention from the more pressing problems we face, namely the incompetence of Jan and Lowe. The support this season has been pretty good (considering the numbers) and there has been minimal booing or slating of the players. If anything I think the crowd has been more supportive than in previous seasons as they appreciate that many of these lads are giving it their all. Sadly, that support has not transferred into winning games, which is why I struggle to understand how people think some booing on Saturday has such an impact on the result, when there are a myriad of other more valid and influential reasons for our failings at home this season. The fans are a sympton of our failings, they are certainly not the cause.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 Bad atmosphere????? Every home game this season(up until Donny),the fans have got behind the team and given great support, despite some truely dire performances.Granted sometimes the home crowd have gone a bit flat, but considering what we have seen, well no surprise there. In fact the only surprise is that us fans have backed the team and Portaloo for so long. Anyone who blames us fans for the state we are in,needs their head testing!
docker-p Posted 19 January, 2009 Share Posted 19 January, 2009 I think the support has been almost heroic given the sh1t we've been served up. There comes a point when getting behind the lads with positive support just ain't working, and you have to call a spade a spade. It was once we were 2 down and everyone was chanting anti lowe songs that we scored! Ironic.
