spyinthesky Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago The 9-0 shellacking we suffered at SMS against Leicester was really painful. However since then we have apparently sold/loaned/waved good bye to 1 Goalkeeper, 2 defenders, 1 Midfield player plus 2 Managers and a Chief Scout as well as the great 4-3 recovery amongst three wins last season. Leicester must really love us at the moment.
CylonKing Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Haven't they suffered enough now?! Surely this is a step too far!?

I remember our first game of the season, away at Sheffield Wednesday. We were a goal up and saw out nearly the last ten minutes playing it about and didn’t let the opposition have a single touch. I just remember thinking “I’ve never seen a saints team do that before”. It was just comfortably playing out a victory. Ok, Martin critics would say it was dull just passing it about, but to me it demonstrated a team totally comfortable with seeing the three points out. Also, as we got into the playoffs, our style became a bit more attritional (although saying that our goal still came from a good quick move out from the back). So, for me, some bad bits of Russball but overall I enjoyed the season as a whole. This was my main memory of Russell - that Hillsborough opening day performance was really quite something. I drove home from that really quite excited (and, ultimately he delivered a successful season). His main attribute is team building and spirit/mental toughness. If he can get the Leicester squad on side then they should be fine for promotion.
