Even if it goes to pens its over before 9 surely I want to get a Portsmouth train from Waterloo: the Victoria line would do but is incredibly slow. Do you know off hand the best and quickest way to get back to Waterloo? Now to negotiate the complexities of British rail fares: has anyone got any tips? Splitting journeys, using a travel card etc? I rarely go to London but some of you do and might be able to help. Cheers.
Saint In Cornwall Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Where are you travelling from Sue? Do you have a railcard?
suewhistle Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Blush.. a Senior Railcard.. To Havant or Emsworth, with a 2.5 mile walk if necessary!
Saint In Cornwall Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) An off peak return to Waterloo with your railcard would be £32.35 and you can travel on pretty much any train. Advance singles would work out cheaper but you are tied to the booked train. An off peak 1st class return would be £53.30 and would probably avoid the local mutants headed to Stoke Prices are from/to Havant Edited 1 hour ago by Saint In Cornwall
Saint In Cornwall Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Trainline charge fees for all sorts of things and are best avoided 😉 2

Scoobysaint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Last train back to Devon leaves Paddington at 20.25. Too expensive to stay in London with the marathon the next day. Let’s just just hope the price of fuel drops in the next two weeks!!

I'll be staying with relatives in North-East Hampshire... Wouldn't even contemplate getting back to Devon the same day 🙂👍🏻
