spyinthesky Posted 6 February, 2009 Share Posted 6 February, 2009 If, and it is a BIG if, we avoid the drop what do we have in store next season? 1. Wotte becomes a 'hero' for getting us out of the mire? Rupert will bask in the limelight? 2. Finances dictate that saleable players depart. 3. Replaced by more players of the calibre of Ryan Smiths/Gasmii/Pulis/Forecast? 4. Certain relegation? 5. 5,000 season tickets sold? 6. Average crowds down from 16k to 12/14k? 7. Possible trouncings by Portsmouth if they get relegated? Looking at this scenario makes relegation to Div 1 seem relatively palatable. Feel as gloomy as the weather today. Really need to be cheered up by the positive posters on here. Any one out there with a glass half full approach to supporting Saints?
scott_saints Posted 6 February, 2009 Share Posted 6 February, 2009 You don't need someone with a half glass attitude to cheer you up. I'm a glass half empty person, but I'm still proud to support the s**t that is Southampton FC
OldNick Posted 6 February, 2009 Share Posted 6 February, 2009 IF we do stay up the young players will have cut their teeth and be better prepared. The financial losses will have been cut and we will be in a better position than now.

I don't care either way, as long as we start next season free of leeches like Euell,Thomas and Skacel it'll be OK with me.
Andy_Porter Posted 6 February, 2009 Share Posted 6 February, 2009 Lots of the high earners will be gone, would hopefully free up some funds to bring in some new cheaper CCC level players. Would be nice to see us sign Size permanently with money raised from releasing Euell and the other high earners who are out of contract. Most of our youngsters will have played 40 games now this season and the experience should help them out and hopefully they will stop making the same mistakes and grow as a side. Need to stay up though and it really doesn't look likely at the moment.

When he got sent of it probably cost us about 50K (or more's) worth of useless idleness. That's between 2 and 3 months pay for a CCC standard player. One rash tackle and bye bye 50K into the pocket of an idle waster.
