wheels Posted 22 February, 2009 Share Posted 22 February, 2009 From what I saw today, we have it loads of it. The player's worked hard for each other and their boss, who made a point of singling each one of them out at the end of the game. Yes, we're in the **** and we need fight. Yes, one swallow does not a summer make, but if we can show that level of commitment and fight, then maybe there is some small glimmer of hope [-o
Benj540 Posted 22 February, 2009 Share Posted 22 February, 2009 They all played well, although I am still unsure about Euell he did cause problems but like a caller said on Radio Hampshire his brain seems to be willing but his legs just don't seem to be. But I think the balance was right today, I am still unsure about Lallana out on the right, but do we have a better option? Possibly Bradley... Alanh Posted 22 February, 2009 Share Posted 22 February, 2009 Yesterday showed how football is played as much in the mind as by the body. We won the early exchanges and got the early goal and pushed on from there. So many of our team seem to be confidence players that we struggle when things don't go for us. McG is the epitome of this for me - yesterday he seemed to grow with each goal that went in and his effort was superb. I thought Euell was good and made the difference to our whole attacking style. Hopefully he can stay fit and on the pitch for the next few crucial matches.

BUT we do not need Euell running around like a spring chicken, if he plays like he did yesterday he will being doing the job which has been beyond Patterson, Robertson, Peckaert and DMG roughing up their defence and bring others into the game
Plumstead_Saint Posted 22 February, 2009 Share Posted 22 February, 2009 The overwhelming consensus seems to be that Euell was excellent yesterday. In terms of spirit, fans at the game said that he drew the players together after Preston's goal went in and rallied them. So he is important up front as 70's Mike says above, and also in terms of team spirit. Just goes to show how a few people don't really understand football in the same way as the rest of us. Toomer Posted 22 February, 2009 Share Posted 22 February, 2009 Need to keep Euell fit and play him up top with Saga for the rest of the season and just hope we can get out of the mucky stuff.

You must also give some of the credit to Wotte. As I have been saying the mood in the camp has improved and there is a new togetherness. His decision to play British style has made a difference as well. WealdSaint Posted 22 February, 2009 Share Posted 22 February, 2009 Jimmy Case's legs had gone by the time he joined Saints, but he was still a great player. You need a few older heads out there

OldNick Posted 22 February, 2009 Share Posted 22 February, 2009 saintrobbie told us yesterday as fact that the players hate wotte and have no respect for him... is this true..?Well he is wrong, if my info is correct.Wotte was known as Mr Chocolate before the meeting he had when he first took over when the staff each had their say, things have improved. The players are united and up for it. I am giving a pal a call later today and will be back on here tomorrow and let you know what i have been told.
SFKA South Woodford Posted 22 February, 2009 Share Posted 22 February, 2009 One thing other than the obvious that I noticed yesterday, was they way that all of the team were talking, egging on and geeing each other up all the way through the match. Was almost as good to see and hear as the goals and the crowd being united.
