sticksaint Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 When darlington went into administration they had a number you could text and you donated £1.50 to the club.I don`t know how you go about setting one of these up ,but somebody here must know.It would be a very quick way of getting money to the club.Thoughts? Mowgli Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 I think you are an absolute Saint for even thinking such a thing. I thought I would get that in first. And if you want money from me, you will not be disappointed. Having said that, I think (hope) it will not be necessary. The night is at its darkest just before dawn. Bailey Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 Good idea, and one that a lot of fans would be willing to contribute to as well. Whilst we wouldn't generate massive amounts, I'm sure any money would be much appreciated by the club.
Stu Man Do Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 Any ideas how much the Darlo number raised? I wonder how many people (based on this forum) would be willing to put money into this? Would it be a little bit like propping up Lowe et al? Poll mods - yes or no?
jasonbenali Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 Even better spend 15 and see a game?
saints_is_the_south Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 Brilliant idea, i wonder if the club have it lined up.
Ewell Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 Even better spend 15 and see a game? Now that is a much better idea and some mobile phone company do not take 50p of your donation in admin fees! Personally I would rather post in a cheque or drop off the cash!
Pilchards Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 Even better spend 15 and see a game? I would rather do the text as the other option always make me feel worse after about 85 minutes ;-)

I know what you`re saying but i just cannot afford to get down to St Marys regularly. Will be there easter monday though.I`m sure that there are many people like me who cannot get to games for whatever reason but would be able to text a number

If a fair few of us do it then maybe the club will take it on board. dluker@saintsfc.co.uk

Ewell Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 Here's the Darlington one http://www.loidland.com/article/display/250 As I said a minimum of 55p going on mobile network\admin fees. Surely better to send the club a cheque or some cash i nthe post?

PaulSaint Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 I have just emailed them to request they setup a paypal address so that fans can donate online too. By ticking the box marked "Paypal Gift" then the donation incurs no charges at either end. I will update you all if I receive a reply?
Rory Posted 1 April, 2009 Share Posted 1 April, 2009 While the sentiments are there, it didn't really work for Darlington. They would have been bust by now if George Houghton didn't plough in an extra £150,000 on Thursday evening to keep them afloat until the end of the season. They were within hours of shutting up shop. Texting wouldn't even raise a fraction of what's needed to keep the club going.
