  1. He's quite clearly a good coach, evidence by the complete change in style he's overseen. I accept the test isn't the same as last season but he can only do what he can do and I personally find it much more enjoyable to watch now (I accept thats subjective). We've scored more goals this season than we're likely to for quite a while and his style is a big part of that. He's also quite clearly a good man manager, evidence by keeping a bunch of players engaged who could have sulked last summer and some of which are still looking for a way out this summer. I personally find him really engaging as a person too, his outlook on the game and life is positive and I much prefer that to alternatives. He's not perfect, obviously. We've conceded far too many and his "style" is to the extreme of course but I do think there's some mitigating factors there (having a keeper who could save some shots, a defence that didn't include 2 CB's we bombed out last season, and wide players who didn't flatter to deceive would help). I accept some of the above is subjective and people have different opinions but the idea he's done a bad job when we're still going to have 3 games to hit our target and we've set a club record for unbeaten games this season is utterly for the fairies and should be called out at every opportunity.
  2. It was the recruitment of players suited for Ralphs system that left us utterly devoid of any quality on the ball, so yes, whilst it started well it gradually declined and left us very short and out of our depth by the end of it. We've gone to the other extreme end this year, I personally much prefer it and I agree there's probably a happy medium ground to be had but I actually don't mind us doing what we've done, because it's much easier to watch and has quite clearly got much better results (obviously with the caveat of the levels).
  3. You've named fads rather than ambitious managers. I think Martin's record would stand up against any of those, so him.
  4. Remind me again the philosophy we had over the last few years during our gradual decline and resulting in finishing bottom?
  5. Incredible.
  6. You’re going to be shocked when you actually check our results btw. There’s quite a lot of wins.
  7. Maybe we will, maybe we won't. If we don't though then I hope nobody on here has a meltdown when certain players who have consistently lost games for us and both relegated us and failed to get us promoted leave.
  8. He literally called the defending pathetic which is pretty much what everyone else thinks, no? He's also called out doing nothing with the ball. If you're worried about that then please don't read back your own comments on here.
  9. Good. This thread is full of people needing nappies.
  10. Their wingers btw. Everything ours have failed to be all season. Can't imagine any one of ours makes KWP look that terrible in training.
  11. You won't see us score the amount of goals we have this season for quite a while I imagine so if you're bored shitless of this then dare I suggest you don't watch anymore.
  12. It's not being edgy, it's being rationale. If you want to wet your pants over this season and this bloke then that's up to you, but I don't.
  13. Squad harmony and style of play are miles better than last season. Those were two massive negatives for us last year. Promotion was number 1 aim, not winning the league and like I've said the levels of the Leicester squad and I'd argue Leeds shows winning the league was always going to be unrealistic if they sorted themselves out. We'll have 3 games at the end of the season to reach the target.
  14. These players have been conceding goals for years as well mate. THB aside and even he wasn't picked up by Burnley after they went up. There's serious issues with Martin's teams conceding goals (I was on this bus at the start of the season too btw), but he's not solely to blame and the positives of his appointment outweigh the negatives for me.
  15. I tried pointing out during Jones time here the players were responsible and maybe a bunch of players who consistently concede goals and lose games of football, whatever the manager or style, might be a bigger issue than the manager. I've been banging that drum for quite a while now. I don't think it's possible to be related to all of them. This one has got us winning on a regular basis though and is still well within a chance of fulfilling the brief at the start of the season.
  16. Our best defender is being made to look like he runs in treacle against both their wide players tonight. There is different levels to these squads.
  17. There is very few of our squad that gets into the Leicester team, it's on show tonight, it was on show last season too. Could quite easily argue Leeds squad too. The idea that we should be easily getting promoted with this squad is and always has been strange. We're rightly in contention and will go into the play offs with a good chance.
  18. So desperate to blame him. And only him. Proper commitment to your personality on here.
  19. This narrative being rightly put in it's place tonight.
  20. Yeah money might talk but so do other teams, with equal or more money. Presumably ones that haven’t been through 4 managers in 2 seasons too.
  21. We’re not sacking Martin and if we did after he delivered a near 90 point season then you’ll do well to convince credible managers to trust you.
  22. If we don't get promoted then this is a good thing. We'd have a squad littered with a core group of experienced players who would have relegated us and failed to bounce back so I'm very open to losing a lot of them personally.
  23. Presumably you don't want Downes dropped so if closing out a game isn't it, when do you want to be playing 2 DM's out of interest? Criticising someone for doing something you wanted to see for a while is a great effort by the way.
  24. There’s no doubt that we have lacked a killer instinct in matches lately but on a weekend when everyone at the top dropped points maybe this is a good time to kind of respect the challenge of the league and do away with the ‘should have been 4-0’ mentality. The entitlement stinks and will only set you up for frustration.
