  1. Can't imagine Cork will start, and we are a much more attacking threat with an attacking midfielder in there instead of Wanyama - his inclusion at the expense of a more attacking player was the problem with creativity against West Brom. Alderweireld will almost certainly start, but it remains to be seen if he plays left centre back instead of Yoshida or his usual position of RCB... instead of Fonte. You'd also expect Gardos might start to feature soon - or not at all. Forster; Clyne, Alderweireld, Fonte/Yoshida/Gardos, Bertrand; Schneiderlin; Davis, Ward-Prowse; Tadic, Pelle, Long Subs: Boruc (I hope); 2 from Fonte/Yoshida/Gardos, Cork, Wanyama, Reed/Mayuka/Gallagher, Mane Feels weird not being able to plug in Gaston on the bench "just in case".
  2. It usually means it's in the contract already.
  3. Only if he wants to leave the Prem altogether...
  4. We name all of our U-21s in the U-21 list, though pretty sure we don't actually have to, as they can be added with approval of the PL Board at any time. No need to name loans out Ramirez or Hooiveld, as we can't recall them until January from a Season Long loan, and at that point they can play up until the closure of the Jan Transfer Window without being named on the list again, and would need to be named on the list created at the closure of that window to play the rest of the season.
  5. Good spot that, OS squad lists are notoriously flaky though, it's also missing a load of the kids with numbers as they're listed under the dev squad (without squad numbers).
  6. Amused to note that the Premier League Handbook Squad List regulation is missing a word and doesn't actually make sense: It reads as "player shan't play unless club holds registration (and eligible) between stated time periods", then just says apropos of nothing the phrases "either included on the Squad List; or Under 21 Player" which doesn't mean anything without qualifying why those two clauses relate to the previous text. There should be an "and" after "Season" as one of the U.1.1 and U.1.2 statements is a required conditions for the player, and without the extra "and" they're just some words not related to the previous statement. Arguably using this typo a legal team could defend a club fielding a registered player who isn't named on the squad list.
  7. Remind me of which of the current loan players we don't have an option to buy for?
  8. Newport has had quite the moron contingent for some time. There are a few problems - firstly, the place has a LOT of manky areas, and a lot of thicko yobs to begin with (especially the bit Tony Pulis is from) - the town has always been a bit rough, though I very rarely used to see actual fighting whilst going out there. Secondly, they have always been lower league and that allows for the kind of idiocy you can't get away with in all-seater grounds with decent CCTV. Thirdly, and most importantly, when the rest of football was moving away from the nobbery of the 80s, Newport stopped having a football team of any note, so all the thugs who used to hang around causing trouble at Somerton Park in the mid 80s in Divs 3 and 4 didn't get the message that the rest of us have moved on and people don't do that kind of thing any more. Also, none of these pr1cks are actually football fans anyway - they all disappeared entirely in the early 90s when Newport AFC's rivals were the likes of Evesham, Almondsbury Picksons, Swindon Supermarine and Leicester United, and only EVER turned up, even for home games, for Merthyr visits. In fact Newport have a large contingent of over 40 football hooligan tourists that you don't see at 95% of their matches. They also had some issues at Lewes a few years back when a group of them decided to have a massive drinking session in honour of one of their mates who'd died (via samurai sword murder in a pub, mind you) and despite County's warning to Lewes not to open their bar, they basically trashed the place. Again, had nothing to do with football, just idiots on a day out getting as drunk as possible all through the match and not even watching it and kicking off when they stopped serving them. But Portsmouth away, direct train from Newport, big home following for League Two, that's a prime one for a moron - especially when there was some trouble in Newport last season. There was NO trouble coming out of Fratton last season whatsoever though as alluded to above, despite that being one of the Skates' lowest points, they were all used to losing by then - unlike this season. I didn't see any groups of away fans escorted to the ground - Goldsmith Ave would have been the train-travellers, and even if they had been, they were the wrong end of Fratton for the incident at the Milton, which involved fans drinking on Milton Rd at 2 or 3 pubs and some of the coaches arriving quite late (other coaches had been there for an hour by then). The Shepherd's Crook, where we went last year was home only, despite it being absolutely fine in there last year. After the match we walked back to the station, there was a huge police presence and we, as some of the last out, didn't see anything happen. There were a load of Newport morons in the car park next to the station entrance, which was bizarre given that the queues to actually catch a train contained fans of both teams unsegregated, all going to get on trains out of Portsmouth, and there was no way of the morons working out which were which without either colours or accent. The station wasn't well organised, we spoke to a policeman on the platform and it was clear there was one train (to south Wales) which had 2 rear carriages for Newport fans which were remaining locked until (probably) Fareham and others were told to get on the front 3 carriages if they wanted to get off before that. With us needing to get off at Fareham for Portchester and Hedge End and my mates at Southampton we, as Newport fans, had to go in the Skate carriages, but when we asked and said our destinations, we were directed to the Newport carriages, which would have meant we couldn't get off (assuming they did lock the doors). So anyway, I didn't see any trouble afterwards, but there were groups that were there to cause it. About a tenth of the size of the Skate welcoming committee outside the ground during the match which was also live on tv for Skates v Saints in 2004 though. Oh, and that victim/compensation culture tweet is pathetic.
  9. He is last on the squad list in the programme, I don't think they've named him in a squad yet. I don't think he's injured, but it would hardly be unprecedented, and I can't believe they gave him more than a one-year deal in their condition, but they did...
  10. Guilty parties on both sides, even walking past the Milton Arms on the way to meet my auntie at the Mr Pickwick it was obvious that the Milton Arms was a neanderthal hangout, and I saw a pint glass come heading for the Newport fans - full of beer, duhhhh - with my own eyes. Seeing as I also saw a punch thrown (and missed, and the guy fall over), and one of the main "lairy arms out, demonstrative singing, look at me" County fans sat on his arse leaned up against a garage looking dazed shortly after (and in the ground after that) I can confirm it was more than just posturing - though there was also a lot of posturing. I had colours on, but it was zipped up jacket and shirt tucked in after that til we got in. Still, when you've already walked past a petrol station which ten years previously had an upturned car on fire in it when you were being kettled to avoid thousands of Skate morons from lobbing concrete and rocks at you on Goldsmith Avenue, you don't really concern yourself with a few smashed glasses. When morons attack.
  11. Just me and the wife, my mates Tim and Aston from Newport, my mate (Everton/Newport fan) Chris and his dad and kid, my dad, my auntie and her husband this time... Also bumped into another County fan who lives in Hedge End getting off the train afterwards, which was a little weird.
  12. Ref was very crap at dealing with time-wasting in injury time, hence 3 injury time bookings. It wasn't remotely dirty or even physical but there were 10(!) bookings, but if anything the ref was over-officious during the match and under-competent in added time and I don't think he particularly favoured either side. Oh, and the bloke the Skates brought on with the lime green boots and the stepovers was hilariously inept and ineffective at beating the notably weak defensively right wing back Jackson in one-on-ones. Checking the stats, that was #14, Storey (not to be confused with Shorey). Absolutely a 10-trick no end product pony. I'm trying to think of one of their players who played well, or looked outstanding, but I can't. Their keeper did ok, until he watched Sandell's "too straight" free kick drift past him inside the post. Devera still gash, Kitson - I mean Taylor - up front did nothing, they didn't create much and had very few threatening moves with the ball, though they seem to favour dribbling to passing, Newport marshalled them well considering that defence has gifted goals all over the shop so far this season. Oh, and 16,191, though somehow it looked much more full than last season - guessing the section next to the away fans in the Milton End was empty, I couldn't see that.
  13. You're probably in one of my three videos of the thing taken from the window of the Brewers as soon as the beer came flying back when it became obvious something was going to happen. The people struggling off the coach to join in is an hilarious clip in one of them. There was a crowd of about 20-30 Newport morons outside the Brewers, of whom about 7 or 8 actually disappeared from sight across the road. My mate, a County fan, saw a drink go towards the Milton Arms, I only saw the one which came back which is what prompted the Newport fans to move towards the pub. Despite hating all that nonsense generally, I quite enjoyed watching some morons suffering pain for being morons at the hands of other morons, it should be a tv show so we can all be appalled but glad of natural selection at the same time.
  14. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28906633 Stats: Skates 2 shots on target, County 6. Fouls, Skates made 13, Newport 17. None of them were remotely dangerous. Bookings Skates 4 County 6, and two of the County bookings were for time-wasting during an incident in injury time when there was a Skate about 5 yards from the free-kick and the ref didn't ask him to retreat. I saw County score twice away to third place Morecambe from open play in one half, they've also played 3 other matches. Also, if they only score from set-pieces, shouldn't Portsmouth be practicing not conceding from them? In summary, Awford talking absolute sh01te.
  15. Real pie. I'll give them one thing, their choice of chicken balti or steak was spot on, anyone would think they had fans involved in the decision making process or something.
  16. I say it's, ooooh, about 1.3%, let's argue about something that's irrelevant to the pure values I was quoting.
  17. Oh, and whilst I'm here, I think Alderweireld is potentially an excellent signing. Remains to be seen who he replaces in the team, but looks like a very good player and for a very reasonable price*. *using some arbitrary football inflation index based on everyone having loads of cash, so no-one bothers telling me he cost almost as much as Chris Sutton or something.
  18. Of course, but it's irrelevant to the point I was making, seeing as, you know, I'm defining the criteria and all.
  19. I'm talking about ACTUAL INFLATION as in the relationship between normal UK-based human beings and the value of money, not some made up football transfer index.
  20. Fair point. Should have reworded it to "the only summer transfer window" or "the only transfer window in which he signed anyone". Pretty sure as he was unveiled at the same time as Forren he didn't have much input into the previous one.
  21. Er, no. Henry cost Arsenal £10.5m in 1999, using http://www.whatsthecost.com/cpi.aspx for historical inflation rates, "£10,500,000.00 in 1999 is equivalent to £14,258,083.22 in 2014". That's still £1.8m less than Chambers is believed to have cost.
  22. He headed the ball off the pitch to win the incorrectly given corner that we took quickly for Ward-Prowse to cross for the own goal people that are still accrediting to Schneiderlin for some reason, even though he didn't touch it.
  23. He is not who you think he is.
  24. There wasn't a single post saying anything resembling that he was "a key player" before you posted that. In fact, there were a few "wtf"s and a "weird" or two, one mention of him being a squad player, one of him playing a cumulative total of 7 games' worth of minutes, and one person saying "very disappointed... he was excellent on Saturday" which is pretty weird in itself, offset by another saying "over it already". So what reaction did you see that no-one else did? Because the reaction I saw was quite a lot of people being surprised but not particularly bothered.
  25. Premier League rules are that season long loans can only be recalled during transfer windows.
