This was in the Pointless Thread about a month ago.

Brilliant rumour. Next up, Schneiderlin signing for Hoffenheim.
-
Brentford fans will be delighted with your summary (as that's what they're wearing)... just as much cheap teamwear crap as the new home shirt, but if we had that I'd love it.
-
What you need here is the Estudiantes kit.
-
I like the away, decent bit of design. Still would have looked better with gold trim though. Unlike the home kit.
-
Seem to have a problem with duplicate posts today...
-
Actually, it seems a lighter blue than I recalled, so yeah, probably ok :

No-one has a problem with one off anniversary colours, most people (except docker p) loved the sash. It's the rebrand by stealth that's bugging me. Not sure of your point re: the sleeve patches - the template can be done with same-colour patches too, Chelsea's kit is the same but with a different (bespoke) collar and decent weave pattern in the design, same for Bayern's. The break in the adidas stripes coincides with the wider use of competition logos on sleeves circa 2001.

Yesterday's "mock up" was just some idiot trying to be clever, we already knew months ago what style the away kit was with the big V, though the trim colour was subject to some conjecture until reveal. Actually you can barely tell now if it's white or silver on the shirts.

duplo post.

...with the announcement of our Umbro deal in 2008 !
-
Even if the sponsor was the same, both kits would be changing, adidas have been doing that for a good few years now. Also, dunno if you noticed, but all of the Umbro kits changed every season as well for the past 5 years, (apart from the one we were in admin and couldn't buy any new stock).

Oh yeah, and what are we going to wear at Palace against navy/red halves ?
-
As you might expect, I'm a little surprised that there's no gold on the away, though there were a few later rumours about that - I wonder if there was an away u-turn after Lotus pulled out ? The "black/gold" logos on the original adidas announcement now make no sense, and it also explains why the club reverted to last year's black/silver corporate logo for the "players released" statement instead of using the gold badge. The funniest thing about this whole situation is that the club has had to work around not knowing who the sponsor was - if you look at the video running on the OS, it doesn’t show ANY of the kits from collar down for that reason. There are two “aap3” shots, both close up and clearly spliced in from later footage when they had a shirt with the sponsor on. All of the other clips are head and shoulders or shorts and socks only. Not a single “midriff” shot of any players wearing the kit from the front, head and shoulders or shown from the back only. Basically because Lotus were in as new sponsors, then out again. Even the gallery on the OS has some obvious sponsor photoshopping on it.

I can't believe you fell for that ! It'll be black with a big V and most likely gold trim and badges.

Welcome to 2011 !

No, he's been pro-all red kit all the way through the thread. I'd probably point out to him that (despite the best efforts of the club to fabricate interest by pulling the same stunt as last year, shoehorning people into the smaller shop and making people wait to get served), he probably won't have to queue much, almost certainly less than last year. Maybe we should send some independent queue counters down there to verify that they can't shift more than 2000 of them through 2 tills in 6-7 hours of Sunday opening... will be interesting to see what PR lie they spin it with this year.
-
Interesting opinion, given that none of the 2000 posts so far have suggested it will affect the way the team plays. But well done on completely missing the point.

I think this is my first post on here today...

I doubt anyone will be surprised to discover I have an absolute shedload of this kind of thing in the garage... not just for Saints but for various clubs, dating back to about 1988. Also every WSC printed since Lou Macari's Swindon got booted out of Division One is in there (or the house) somewhere...
-
The only rumour about it I've ever heard is "Cortese prefers blocks of colour", which seems like a strange thing to remark on pretty much anything, though I suppose it could have come from a design meeting...

St Mary's YMA kits are about as "Saints" as it gets ! And I'd rather look like Sunderland and Stoke in stripes than Bristol City, Liverpool and Arsenal in red.
