Bilbao and Werder Bremen for £17 with a double new kit launch was just about tolerable.

    Fair point.
  3. 25th May, post #129 was the first time we were pretty sure of that on this thread... a month ago today.
  4. "Miss Gorse" was also not 100% impressed with his service - take the ST as is or wait until July 7th...

Pretty sure my renewal for the Northam is £575 (plus ridiculous booking fee) so actually £30.26 for Wings/goals. Either way, the point still stands, you wouldn't expect Cat C to be less than £32.

Equally you don't have to go to the game(s) to buy a new shirt. The home shirts are available from Sunday anyway, it's only the away which doesn't come out until 14th.
  7. He said "I could get the college to send them an email saying that I will be a student coming into the new academic year then that will be fine as proof, this was easy enough sort and after afew phone calls all was sorted" so it seems very likely.
  8. It's vitally important to me that my armpits have holes in them made from recycled plastic bottles, you know.
  9. The launch will be a press release online style only on the Friday I think, so I doubt the shop will be involved in that - presumably they've decided to launch it at 6pm because... um, actually I have no idea, there's nothing stopping them setting the content management system to auto-update at midnight, so it's not a "people going home on a Friday" thing... I'm at a loss as to why people still think the kit will have "fat" pinstripes as in the most recently reposted mock up above, it's the Sweden style with 7 pairs on pinstripes, and as we can see, plain sleeves. itchen_dan's done a more accurate one than that already!
  10. Let's just say I've bookmarked it !
  11. Hilarious that the club has chosen to reveal one of the two bits of the kit that we didn't already know - now if they could just show us if the back is plain or pinstriped (my money's on plain)...

I was considering going to see the Olympic Torch, then realised I can see it between the ferry terminal and stadium for free anyway, can go in the club shop and have a look at the newly launched away kit for nothing, and am not remotely interested in an early-season kickabout between Rangers and Arsenal (probably) reserves either. So in short, no ta. Had it been a tenner I'd have gone, £15 and I'd have had to think about it. £25 makes me fear for matchday prices next season (though I have my ST, which works out at £31.50 a match, so we know they're going to be over £32 a game anyway).
  13. Well it's either straight from the sweatshop (for lots of different brands), there's a "kink" in the delivery process between manufacture and distribution in which masses go missing, or they have a very decent standard for their fakes... decent value though.

    25 Man Squad

I've been saying 4 or 5 since January, looking at the keeper gaps we're looking at 5, but it will depend on how involved Ward-Prowse, Shaw and Stephens become - looking at the numbers and my guesses at those there don't seem to be many gaps likely in the low numbers, or were going to be bumping a load of starters to to higher numbers for players we haven't signed yet. Dodgy game.
  15. The instructions that come with the ST indicate there are both turnstile operators and supervisory staff. I don't see why we need more than one per turnstile pair if it's automated. The other thing is that the turnstile operators are stewards anyway.
  16. Terrible choice for converting someone, it's going to be a summer walk in the park at that stage of preseason.
  17. Any chance of them moving to Monday ? Are they all sandwiched between two Thursday matches?
  18. The bit I don't get is why we've even bothered to update the system when there are still going to be turnstile operators and supervisors, we may as well not have an automated system. I suppose there are benefits to having the points system and a better reservation system etc but there's no saving in actually admitting people to the ground at all.
  19. The problem with people trying to pass it off as a new competition is precisely that it creates garbage records which mean nothing, which is mildly irritating as it underpins style over substance - and of course it detracts from the actual achievement which is quite impressive in its own right. The other issue that I'm the sort of person who's going to question it, but lots of others take it at face value and would genuinely believe Lambert scored more goals than anyone in a second tier season ever, which is palpably not the case.
  20. I agree, no need to to mention that again either.

    Club Motto

I like "Southampton FC" which seems to adopt the position of most clubs mottos.
  22. I met an ex through Saints Forever, I don't recommend it. The wife is an ST holder but I'm mostly to blame for that.
  23. Actually, from looking at the Blackburn (and Rangers) shorts we know the design, we just don't know the colour. They'll be one plain main colour with either a contrast stripe which curves slightly, or the same colour stripe as the main body of the short - but as we did that last season and we're unlikely to try and shift completely plain shorts for two seasons in a row, I'd expect us us to have the contrast stripe. As it's also now a week before the unveil, it's probably about time to wait and see - then be amazed at how many people have been oblivious about the design despite this thread when it launches on 30th June.
  24. Have Leeds, Cardiff, Millwall and Ipswich ceased to exist ? There's every possibility Portsmouth might. And much as people can start non-League clubs with good intentions, they just don't have the appeal to some people that a Premier League side might - or even a decent Championship side. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes in South Wales I wouldn't have believed it either. An entire generation of Newportonians growing up with the choice between Southern League football (or worse) or a nearby team in the Football League third, and then second tier... who'd have thought they'd go and watch the more successful side ? When you have no affiliation to a local club to begin with it's a lot easier. That might be the case for a generation of Skates to come. Even if it isn't, other inroads can be made in marginal areas. Then again there's a much more significant plastic fanbase in South Wales due precisely to the clubs NOT being in the top leagues for years on end, so people are a little less hard and fast with their club affections as most of them are Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool fans as well... not so much the case down here, but you only have to look at the kids with the Arsenal shirts playing outside Albion Towers to know that there's a market there, and there would be lapsed plastic Gooners in Portsmouth as well.
