  1. Just checked, I started threads on 18th, 12th and 10th June. One taking the p155 out of Brighton (a cheap shot, a bit small time and probably too concerned about the Championship to be honest), one about the new Premier League ball (no-one cares, and no-one will until we're kicking it), and I've already forgotten what the other one was about. The last one before that was in April. It probably would be a good stat to defend against alpine's comment in the kit thread about "attention-seeking" though. I'm not prolific. As for an opinion on Mido, bit crap, about 10 years past his peak and irrelevant, hence getting signed by Barnsley.
  2. About a week ago, and I suspect it was rather more Saints-related than the news that a player we played against a couple of times and didn't sign has signed for a team in a league we're not playing in next season. Having long ago come to terms with society's inability to care about this kind of minutae, especially on the internet, my pedantry is now mainly restricted to pulling people up on using the term "Premiership" for the top tier of English football since 2007, and, it appears, debunking garbage stats about being the all time top scorer in a League which has only existed for 8 years. That's not your fault, you were just repeating something invented by the media to hype someone. I look forward to them hyping Ebanks-Blake next season as the leading all time goalscorer in the Coca-Cola Championship, seeing as Rickie achieved his milestone after the sponsors changed. It'll mean just as much. Again, not your fault. I'd have had money on this turning into a thread drift about racism to be honest, it's happened every other time Mido's been mentioned.
  3. So are you saying Lambert's "record" is phony because other second tier players have already scored more than he did ? It sounds like you're just annoyed at people calling the second tier lots of different names to me.

    25 Man Squad

Oh yeah, slipped my mind and unsurprisingly he wasn't referenced on the BBC article I checked.
  5. Division One is even more short termist than "The Championship" as it's already been and gone, 12 years of Div 1, 8 years as "Championship", it's "second tier" if you want a useful comparison.
  6. Andrew Johnson also got 27 in 2003/4 for Palace, though that was in "League Division One" not "The Championship"... clearly many more players have scored more goals than Lambert did last season in the second tier, the "Championship" record means next to nothing as the name of the division is irrelevant to goalscoring feats.
  7. Also, looking like Richard Reid can't have helped with all the air travel.
  8. And Udinese and Ajax... and Arsenal... ...and giving other clubs who aren't involved money from a trumped up friendly that will be pretty unpopular if people work out it's very early in pre-season and that they can see the Olympic Torch outside for free, that's a really WEIRD suggestion.

    25 Man Squad

Thanks for clarifying re: Schneiderlin. Not sure why anyone would have bothered with the "homegrown" discussion before we actually got to the Prem to be honest. Something that's just sprung to mind, with the kit launch next weekend, we must be getting a list of squad numbers pretty soon to allow people to spend the extra £12 on their Prem name and number on their new shirts. So I'm guessing we get the squad numbers in the next 7 days. Contracts flick over next weekend as well, but if the squad numbers are announced we're going to have a pretty good idea where Adkins thinks the holes in the squad are. We never did end up with a number 5 last season, but the gaps made it obvious which positions we were buying, as the number structure was pretty regimented. 1, 21, 31 GKs 2, 12, (22) RBs 3, 13, 23 LBs 4, 8, 10, 14, 18, 20 MIDs 5, 6, 15, 16, 25, 26 CBs 7, 9, 11, 17, 19 LW/RW/STs 27, 28, 29, 30, 32 upwards : Youth/late signings You could probably pencil in about 90% of the players now. In fact I'll have a go. I think Sharp and Guly will switch numbers FWIW, as both have had the other's number previously. Other than that, you wonder what they'll do with Hooiveld (regular starter, high number with lower CB numbers available), plus the "slipping down" Seaborne, Forecast (I wanted to use 101), Chaplow, Barnard, Harding, Dickson, De Ridder, maybe Hammond and Puncheon and the new pros. I doubt Kelvin will lose the #1 even if we signed a world class keeper. 1 Davis 21 ? 31 ? 41 Forecast 2 Richardson 12 Butterfield 22 J Stephens 3 Fox 13 Shaw 23 Harding 33 Dickson 4 Schneiderlin 8 Cork 11 Guly 14 Hammond 18 ? 20 Lallana 28 Chaplow 30 Ward-Prowse 42 Puncheon 5 ? 6 Fonte 15 ? 16 ? 25 ? 26 Hooiveld 35 Seaborne 7 Lambert 9 Rodriguez 10 Sharp 17 De Ridder 19 Lee 27 Chambers 29 Barnard 37 Forte Obviously we're going to need to ship a few out, and there aren't many gaps without dislodging some well-established 1-11ers apart from in defence.
  10. If he's talking about taking a wage cut to play more as you suggest, then how is the counter argument that people can't be self-righteous because he's trying "to make as much money as possible" ? Because in that situation he ISN'T trying to make as much money as possible. People were only having a problem with him complaining about having to sit around and do nothing for lots of money, the underlying sentiment about playing being more important than the money is admirable.
  11. I'm sure there are, which is why I'm not complaining about it.
  12. For the person on page 1615 requesting the debt clock, I set it up and it was based on the money they owed HMRC if they didn't cut anyone from their wage bill. They DID send Huseklepp and Lawrence out on loan after that, but I'm sure that Brum and the Redturds won't still be paying their wages, so here's the original link : http://www.tickcounter.com/2285714.0,33.1/1329744645/Pompey%2527s%2520Debt%2520to%2520HMRC%2520%2528%25C2%25A3s%2529 According to the counter, it would stand at approximately £5,773,922.24 now, which suggests either it's broken, or it's clocked itself. Cos that's way too low. It should be nearer £57m than £5m. Maybe it reset or something. Maybe there's a lesson there for "Club 24" (also my invention ).
  13. Last year it was a month after the fixtures, I'm not convinced by this 6 July date - but then I haven't seen anything other than speculation about it, so I remain to be convinced. They'll do the matches up to the end of November anyway.
  14. I'm the MLG of kits. It's not bad, it's about as accurate as Itchen_Dan's, collar aside.
  15. That's not spot on, it doesn't even have the right type of sleeves on it... they're raglan and reach the collar, not whatever they call the ones which cut off at the shoulder. I'm pretty sure we could photoshop a more accurate 2012/13 Saints kit based on communal knowledge too. I'm not doing it though, but I have a very good idea of what it's going to look like - I still have some questions whether the pinstripes are grey and white rather than just white though, but no doubts about number of pinstripes, collar, sleeves and cuffs design. It's the Sweden template with a different collar. Also don't know if the back is plain like the Sweden shirt though, and no idea what the shorts or socks are.
  16. Based on my Newport/Cardiff experience, if they go bust and you don't go there until 2017 that might well be the case.
  17. No, but some of the ones who used to wear Skate shirts and are now invisible in Winchester, Eastleigh and Fareham probably are headed that way - and we've probably converted a few Bournemouth plastics in the past 2 seasons as well... I'm shocked how many "Cardiff City fans" I now know who had never been to see them play until they got to the Championship.
  18. Not necessarily by the club, wouldn't be surprised if a few hundred people hadn't pointed out on twitter than we're in a recession, lots of people are struggling and he's complaining about getting paid thousands a week for running around a park with no likely need to actually perform in public. He does have a choice, he can put in a transfer request...
  19. Well, maybe he can spend some of his massive amount of well-paid leisure time learning the English language.
  20. For completion, new Liverpool third kit doesn't look like this : It looks like the purple thing with white sleeves and orange cuffs on the left here (away shirt in the middle, home shirt on the right) : This has no relevance to Saints, I just wanted to show how bad photoshops CAN be based on a tiny bit of info.
  21. Every mock up on twitter and facebook that I've seen has come from this thread, hence the repeated calls for trousers to intervene.
  22. No, it's a Stoke le coq sportif kit from about 3 years ago, which you know, because the jpeg is called "stoke-city-home-kit-20092"
  23. I don't have a "design on here that believe is a close match to the final design". Itchen_Dan's is pretty close, that's good enough isn't it ?
  24. I was considering quoting it, but you can't beat the original.
  25. Yeah, and that's your opinion and fair enough.
