  1. We already did this one, and I failed dismally to come up with any examples since 2000, at least for Saints... Newport County/AFC did it in the mid 90s, but they were lower non-league then...
  2. Yeah, I was just in the process of editing that. But there's nothing to say the kit launch will be the first time the kit is seen, it might just be an "event" like last year when the kit was already known beforehand.
  3. As someone's already pointed out, the pre-order is from this Thursday (30 June), so we might know the design by then. Or there might be an away kit launch before then.
  4. In case we haven't got the message yet, here's Forest's new away kit, yet another Umbro away kit using the same basic design template : So that's Sunderland, Athletic Bilbao, Forest, Livingston, Rangers, and Republic of Ireland away kits all using this template, any others ? Hearts have got a plain home kit with a striped away thing that looks a bit like last season's Saints away with pinstripes, there are a couple of V-patterned ones too (Northern Ireland away), and Man City have their own striped away effort with the silly arms-out sleeves. Not much in the way of unique out there, especially in away kits !
  5. I'd be inclined to think that Bowyer, Reid and Koumas would all be the wrong side of the hill and the last two were barely Prem players for any amount of time even at their best. Reid always had weight problems and fitness, and Koumas has never been more than an occasional West Brom starter in his whole career. Last season he was failing to get into Cardiff's team despite being one of their few welsh players and very popular with the fans.
  6. Have you read the thread ?
  7. 2008/9 : New manufacturer, changed home and away, dropped 3rd kit. (albeit it was launched as all charcoal). 2009/10 : Changed away only (presumably due to administration despite details of Umbro contract suggested changing all kits every season) 2010/11 : Changed home and away
  8. We also then carried on with the shorts and socks of the home kit with the new flybe kits, which was a nice idea. 2006/7 : Changed the home (shirt only due to new sponsor), and the away and third 2007/8 : Kept the home, changed the away and third
  9. 2004/5 : kept the home, changed the away and third 2005/6 : changed the home, kept the away and third
  10. We were definitely rotating the sales of the home kit and the 2 away kits required by the Prem from the time we moved to St Mary's until the Umbro deal. For instance the red sleeved Prem relegation kit was dropped at the end of that season (and replaced by the centre badge nosebreaker collar), but the light blue away shirt and the yellow with blue sleeves away shirt stuck around for the first season in the Championship as well. 2002/3 kits : 2003/4 : changed the home, kept the away and third
  11. Not at the moment it isn't, and there's no built-in obsolescence to the other clothing unless you're a fashion bell-end, in which case you deserve to be parted with your cash.
  12. Just to clarify that's for 12 home draws in a row, as opposed to 17/19.
  13. There wasn't a dry side - I was in the front row of the beer marquee stands, directly below a gap in the guttering, which was extremely wet in its own right.
  14. Good point, I'll edit. You'd think I'd remember, given that I went.
  15. There's a handy shortlist of Premier League free transfers here : WARNING, PDF ! http://www.premierleague.com/staticFiles/14/79/0,,12306~162068,00.pdf
  16. Forest v Notts County should be fun for them too.
  17. C"h"rystal Palace managed to screw up their own kits like that once, so it's to be expected ! Ironically, the website I found that picture on his this one next : http://www.offthepost.info/2009/03/top-10-football-shirt-typos/
  18. Honestly I'm so skint from paying for Saints-related stuff at the end of last season I don't do anything not directly Saints related apart from go to weddings at the moment. Basically Saints was the excuse for pretty much all of my socialising and travelling in 2010 and 2011 with the exception of getting married and the honeymoon, and aside from running a Sunday side last season for about 9 months and the occasional 5 and 7 a sides I don't have many interests. Never get to use the Xbox, don't go anywhere without a football match at the end of it... sporadic pub quiz attendance and reading books are my cheap options at the moment, gave up the Sky subscription 2 years ago and don't miss it. I suppose this is one of the reasons people saying "can you afford to get a ST" annoys me so much. It's about the only thing I AM doing ! Especially now my 5- and 7-a-side playing is becoming a lot like hard work. Oh yeah, plus mocking up kits on Photoshop when I can be arsed, and watching films and listening to podcasts for free. I don't dare start Football Manager, that has been known to take over my life.
  19. I already said this in dune's crappy other thread !
  20. At least get the name right. It's "Cortese Tax". I know because I coined the term.
  21. Yeah, I went to that at the Millennium, it was a Euro 2004 qualifier and basically cost Wales a place in the Finals as they only drew 1-1 after starting the campaign really well. Niemi got beaten in the first 10 minutes by a shot that never would have done him at St Mary's, and I realised what a great defence Saints had at the time with Claus chucking himself at everything. There's an article about Jones v Niemi from the match in Helsinki from earlier in the Euro 2004 qualifiers here, some interesting comments about Jones keeping Niemi out of the team : http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Football%3A+Criticism+will+not+Finnish+ace+Jones%3B+FINLAND+v+WALES,...-a091401544
  22. At least mine isn't based on an entirely incorrect premise for the sake of chucking mud at the Chairman.
  23. I happened upon it when looking for a list of teams in the Prem to check who'd changed their kits last season, is that worse ?
  24. Surely it's just the same paying players bonuses to win or draw ? It's just a slightly different way of approaching it. I guess the argument is whether it's more effective motivation with an incentive to work to get extra money, or to avoid the punishment of losing some. In theory the only difference is if you regard the money paid after a defeat as your base pay rate, or whether you regard the money after a win as your base pay rate and how that affects your motivation.
  25. ...to next season's league structures. They usually wait until 1st July. The "new" Championship table for 2011/12 is here : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/table/default.stm Though as yet they haven't updated any of the team info on the Championship page itself (and the League Table there is still 2010/11). I'd say it looks good to see Saints back in the Championship, but we're in the bottom 3 on alphabetical order ! ;( Have Sky done anything yet ?
