  1. Even if they're wound up they'll appeal and get to play us before the appeal is thrown out.
  2. Probably, but watching it at normal speed should make people appreciate how impossible it is for a keeper to come out and collect a decent dead ball with pace on it. That's even if he's not being impeded, which is unlikely in a crowded area. Defenders should be able to deal with anything outside the 6 yard box.
  3. Leeds ARE United.
  4. It does also ignore that we stopped passing the ball on the deck at the start of December in favour of wanging it in the general vicinity of Lambert at the first opportunity, which seems to be the root of the problem to me. We've stopped dominating possession and wearing sides down in favour of the early ball forward and becoming massively predictable.
  5. Lower league pitches are often cambered from the centre to aid with drainage. Funnily enough Fratton Park is as well...

You should Worldnet, we have veterans too now...

    SICK

Exactly. It's not like anyone's suggesting we wear blue shirts like some other team, or original 1880s knickerbockers...

Tsk, stripes are too narrow and a horrible Pony tick shadow weave all over it...

There may well be a good reason why Peru's kit is white with a red sash... "Football was brought to Peru by English sailors in the late 19th*century during their frequent visits to the port of Callao, which was then an important port of the Pacific Ocean. During their free time, the English sailors played football and invited the local Chalacos (people from Callao) to participate." - Wiki. So they might well have adopted Saints' kit, given that a Sotonian player took football to Brazil and the usual trade routes on to the Pacific coast. They only have to have pitched up on the other side of South America after navigating the Cape and we can claim Peruvian football (and the origins of their kit) as our own too.
  10. You're not the only ones either... pretty much anyone from the list in the letter has been receiving them from what I've heard !
  11. I have a history of scoring goals at St Mary's I don't actually like the kit though, Rabbit has blatantly robbed England's Euro 2000 kit and it looks pants. I suspect the back will be plain as well...
  12. Mm, good point, amazing how soon I assimilate information nowadays, forgot that it hadn't actually been confirmed... I hate those sash/stripe compromises and the ugly 3 sash thing is almost as bad as the early 90s Chelsea away kit it looks horribly like. Plain sash or plain stripes is fine by me. And anyone who thinks that classic plain England shirt is "pikey" is missing the point. It's a beautiful, classic design, Umbro aren't responsible for the mongs who want to wear it with their trackies and hats...

    Poopey Ticket update

IIRC there will actually be LESS seats wasted on segregation for this match than usual (for a "sell-out"), because of the nature of the netting on Block 42 (narrow) from the requirement to give the Skates as many tickets as possible whilst under the "minimum" allocation of 4700-ish. They didn't get 4700 last time, they got 4100, the same - they're SUPPOSED to get 4700-4800, but our segregation under Block 42/43 won't allow it. I think Man U got 4800 as they were snotty about it, only time I've had to move from Block 41.
  14. Just out of interest, why the hell is this thread entitled "New Shirt Design Revealed??". ? There is nothing - other than a picture of the current kit which you'd think everyone would recognise and see has "flybe" on the front - in that link that could even remotely be considered to justify that heading.
  15. They don't appear to have complained about numerous previous striped designs with three white and/or red stripes on the main body part ? But I know what you mean... FWIW I like the plain sash kit, or a nice straightforward equal striped kit, preferably "Tailored By" Umbro. Either way I want to see a 125 anniversary badge in the style of the FA Cup Winners logo from 1976/7 - with the full black circle, the black/yellow curved part of which remains as the "Southampton FC" at the bottom of the current badge.
  16. Helps the modern designer though.
  17. Actually the 1980-5 kit had stripes because the red front-side parts didn't extend to the side of the shirt, the side being white. So it was actually a broad white stripe and two narrow white stripes at the side, with red in between. No arguing the 85-7 kit though, red with bits.

    SWF v.s PO

Well, I know POTS mostly plays central midfield, much as he's claiming to be a striker... Have seen oxfordshiresaint at CB too. I'm sure there are plenty of others who might be interested though as we've had the Forum match AND an Internet FC team before. You have to keep your options open with this, some won't make trials, some won't be able to make the day.
  19. If they held out a cup they'd want change to be put in it.
  20. He said "well done" to me outside the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on FA Cup Final day 2003 (after the game). I said "hello Rupert" to prompt the response. I think he was taken aback by the familiarity, but I couldn't really fault him at that exact point in time really, might have said something different post-2005.

    SWF v.s PO

Verified, Minty for left wing corners, especially if there's an overhanging tree. s4int sounds like decent keeper... Will be nice if trials are on the Common as last time I was commuting to "training" from South Wales, and I've moved a lot nearer now! Bu66ered if it's Sunday, Tues or Weds this week though...
  22. Drew the match, won the tie on pens.
  23. He'd better be posting the ST bought-online tickets through my front door too or I'm going to be MOST unimpressed...

    SWF v.s PO

Three five a sides and still not quite got my left side coordination back, think the muscle memory has gone from a combination of the knee op and not using it much since November. It's weird, amazing how much you take the natural movement for granted, I basically have to retrain it. Right foot is still deadly of course
