  1. Referee has been dishing out the yellows like candy to the Saints...not so much for the home team.
  2. Saints get a free kick in a decent spot. Come on JWP
  3. JWP and JRod on for Redmond and Clasie
  4. Boufal comes on for Tadic. Boufal was apparently in the starting 11 until a last minute change in plans.
  5. Dawson scores. 2-1
  6. Snodgrass scores.
  7. Clasie gets a yellow for a late challenge on Mason.
  8. VVD hits the top of the crossbar.
  9. Redmond with a nice through ball for Austin there.
  10. Tadic fouls Mason, Tadic may have injured himself in the challenge. Ref' gives him a yellow, which he may have deserved.
  11. Will Keane down...doesn't look good for him. He's limping off and Snodgrass is on.
  12. Fernandez off for Mbokani
  13. Austin!!! Keeper goes the wrong way.
  14. Blimey...penalty to Saints...Yoshida brought down.
  15. Hmmm... Lots of empty seats in the stands.
  16. Well. That was a little embarrassing for Ronald. Thoroughly enjoyable for me, not that I'm in to schadenfreude... Chelsea are rampant. Puts last week's loss in perspective, somewhat.
  17. I'm pretty sure that City got a fine a few years ago for violating FFP. It may also have been a squad reduction. I also seem to recall reading a preview of the Inter Milan game a few weeks ago that indicated that although Inter overspent on players in the offseason, they are avoiding FFP trouble by simply not naming some of their signings to their Euro squad. Teams are finding ways around it.
  18. The thing is at this point based on the limited information available, I'm not sure that Lander has big money. I suppose that posting an annual loss could be indicative of some kind of financial planning strategy or reorganization rather than business problems but it does not sound all that promising to me. The article itself says that Saints would be Lander's biggest asset, so we won't exactly be a billionaire's plaything like City or Chelski. Does this also raise the possibility of a leveraged purchase, with the purchase debt saddled on the club?
  19. I am not enthusiastic about this partly because the article in question does not seem to describe a thriving company capable of dealing with the financial reality of life in Premier League football. Saints are a rarity in that the business model so far seems to create reasonable success without the massive capital expended by rich "sugar daddy" owners, and from my reading of the article it is this that makes them attractive to Lander. I suppose I'll wait and see but I would also be sad to see the Liebherr name go. For me it stands for one of the most positive developments in the club's history.
  20. He's gone and youth team coach Vecchi will take over: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37830878
  21. I agree with this a more clinical Chelsea side could have put 4 in, I'm thinking particularly of the first half giveaway by Clasie and Forster's second half calamity, which should have been punished for a goal. Romeu bailed him out eventually.
  22. Chelsea are an expensively-assembled team that is on a tear right now. The better team won so I can't complain. We made far too many defensive mistakes today and Chelsea took advantage of two of them. Martina, Davies and Clasie all had poor games. We had some really good spells of possession particularly in the first half but I can only think of two half-chances involving headed misses by Austin.
  23. That was a close offside call. Perhaps Austin's knee was ahead of the defender?
  24. Hojberg and McQueen on for Bertrand and Tadic
  25. Headed chance for Austin from a nice Bertrand cross.
