  1. At this rate it might be easier to compile a list of "big" clubs not linked with VVD.
  2. Man City are the latest team to be linked with VVD, albeit by the Daily Star. The Star claims that he is rated at 30 million and sought by Pep as a January replacement for Kompany.
  3. A great time to play Everton, in the middle of a Koemanesque slide.
  4. FT: 1-0. Well done Saints!!!
  5. Last minute of injury time. Saints sitting deep.
  6. That was some groan from the crowd when Bertrand gave it up to Delofeu
  7. Injury time: 3 additional minutes. Hold on boys...
  8. Long on for Austin...
  9. At this point we could really use Long's pace to test Everton on the break.
  10. McQueen comes on for Sims. Well done lad.
  11. Wow and then Coleman probably thinks he's about to score. Nice block.
  12. Clasie does well to snuff out a break.
  13. Bloody hell that was close
  14. Damn JWP with the miss.
  15. Lovely by Sims there, until his final ball.
  16. Damn. I thought that was 2-0 from the Austin header. Nice save.
  17. It looked like the pitch was sloped towards the home team's goal but not too many chances for Saints. I'd like to see Boufal and Austin on in the 2nd half. A touch of Boufal trickery may do the trick.
  18. Inter 2-0 up now, according to my commentators

  20. What a fantastic article. The Mail has something considerably shorter on him today, which I read before this. I'm starting to think that the Mail may have borrowed it's material from The Bleacher Report.
  21. A natural goal scorer with a terrible injury record but an initial loan would give us a chance to see if he can play regularly. We should sign him up if we have the chance. But, notwithstanding his failure to get regular first team starts at City, Chelsea and now Liverpool he probably still sees himself as a "big team" player, unsuited to a smaller team like Saints.
  22. VVD was immense on Saturday and "bigger" clubs would be negligent not to look at him. We would do well to keep him for the 17-18 season. I might be irritated if he follows the well-worn trail to Liverpool. It has been mentioned already but one of the things that makes Saints attractive to potential recruits is the willingness to let them move on for bigger things at the right price. It's simply Saints' business model. I know that some "experts" like Martin Samuel are waiting for Saints to fall flat on their faces at some point a few years down the line so they can finally say "I told you so," but it has worked well so far. Overall, it seems a little early for a melt down, even by the standards of this forum.
  23. He left weeks after saying publicly (well at least to Adam Blackmore) that he was staying, and having spent the entire season of his second year declaring he would see out the the third year of his contract. If he gets a hostile reception, he'll deserve every minute of it.
  24. Puel, the back four and the whole team should take credit for defending and keeping a clean sheet against a team that put 6 past Watford in their last game, is/was top of the league and has no European commitments.
  25. Liverpool were aggressive in defence. We made about 1 goal scoring opportunity. We missed having Tadic in attack.
